Yes, Gary,
For years she was listed as Elizabeth Clemons Whitaker, but only
recently did we learn that she was William Francis Clemons' grand daughter
as she is the eldest daughter of Benjamin and Nancy Jane (Clemons) Smith.
(See also two Perry County deeds for Francis Clemons, Ben Smith & Rhoda
Smith Breathitt County Deed, and Death Certificate for her son, Anderson
Whitaker in 1923).
William Johnson Whitaker, an interesting character in his own right,
always signed his name on countless deeds and law
My names are Salyers, Watkins, Haddix, Davis, Ketchum, Howard, Williams of
Hunting Creek. Also I do Banks, not as a direct line but related.
I am trying to help a Watkins cousin find out more about Cordelia Harris.
Some records show her as Harris, at least one as Miller. Cordelia, born
10/84, was married to James Buck Watkins (Jr.) and they lived on Cane Creek
next door to my great aunt Louisa Salyers Gilbert and husband Asa in the
1900 Breathitt Census.

I had a bunch of Boyds come from Russell county to KY. At least one of
them, Jonathan Robert, married into the Bryants of Breathitt County
(Malissa). These were my great grandparents. It would be interesting to
see who came from there with them.

Frozen covers a large area of Breathitt Co. It is made up of many
communities. I am sure that there is a main Frozen
Creek, but most folks refer to a large area being Frozen. The road #
going thru Frozen is 1812. At the time of the flood
it would have been 15 North. I think that the flood was around the
community called Keck. There is a Blanton Bridge
fork of Frozen and I think there is a community called Davis. I do not
know the Frozen area that well.

Has anyone come across an article in September 1938 about ALFORD PARKS being shot and he died a few days later. His death date is September 14, 1938. This was in Breathitt County as far as I have been told. He was my mom's uncle. His niece said her dad Thomas Trent was there after he was shot & that he was shot in the face. There were stories of a retaliation shooting over a card game. Supposedly his sister in law's illegitimate son shot him.

Parks, Sweeney, Turner, Lawson, Brewer, Halsey,
Bertha,
My Charles Yeary married Malissa Bryant. He was her first husband but I'm
not sure she was his first wife. He was born about Sept. of 1872 and died
before 1906 if the info I have is correct. Malissa and Charles had 4 kids,
Pearl, Edgar Boon, Franklin Pierce, and Hugh. In 1900 Charles and Malissa
were living in Breathitt County in the Crawford Precinct in household 174
and at the time they only had Pearl and Edgar Boon.
Looks like we might be a generation off here? Since I don't know my

Bill, I have never heard of a place named Plymouth in Breathitt even
with scattered houses. Do you have any info
of the scattered houses being near another community or section of
Breathitt Co.

David,
Now this IS interesting. There are some real clues in here once I get a
chance to figure it all out and who goes where. Definitely my Trents and
Brewers and Hollons. I had no idea they were all in Tennessee! Any clue
why they went and why they came back???

Which Vires, King, and Hollons? My direct line is King but they married
into a lot of Vires and Hollons. My Kings stem from Moses King b. 1792 in
Franklin Co., VA. I'm interested in collecting info on the allied families.
Will share info if we connect.

This is a great idea, Pat. I don't know the number of times I have heard of
a relative throwing out someone's genealogy work. It makes a person feel
ill just to think of it.

Sandy,
I have Thomas Trent married to Laura Parks and Laura Trent married to Alford Parks. Their mother was Mahala Trent and I guess she wasn't married. The kids are supposed to be by her brother in law. They also had a sister Mollie and a brother Robert. That's about all i have on them.

With the talk of Frozen Creek ..... I was wondering if someone could tell me exactly where it was located. I've been to Lawson's graveyard a couple of times and believe I may have been close. My grandfather Loranza DUNCIL grew up there. They had a large family and I have a picture of the house. I doubt it the house is still there though.
Thanks,
