My great great grandmother was Susannah Holbrook
(dau)of John Henry Holbrook & Susannah Back. She
married my gg grandfather who went by diffrent names.
Some of the names were Lister / Lester Calhoun, James
L Calhoun and other names as well. They are all buried
at the fork of Hunting Creek & Fletcher Fork in
Breathitt, Co.
This is about all I know of this family. If someone
can shine some light on them it would be of great
help.
Thank you,
Paul Bailey

Can anyone reach Mr. Will Baker age 91 and wife Grace Baker age 89, who were
featured in the Leslie County News on October 7, 1999. They were the eldest
participants in the Mary Breckinridge Festival. I would like to know whom
their parents were, in order to identify them while they are still living.
Anyone know how to reach them, or what County they live in?
JOHN in CA
Dear Yvonne,
They are most likely not copyrighted, but I don't know
that. And since it is work that the BC historical
society has done, then it would be in poor taste to do
it even if there is no copy rights.
We need historical societies, and that is most likely
how they survive.
I think it would be best to ask their permission
before doing that. ( Even though I would love to see
them. *smile*)
Take care and thanks again.
God bless,
Paul Bailey

Thank You so Much, I looked over the list briefly and I will compare it with
what I have. I know I have Wilders in Knox in the early 1800 and they date
back to Joseph Wilder born 1858. He was in knox on the 1810 tax list.
Thanks again.
I don't think I show any Partins in my tree.
I have seen your pages on line with the cemeteries. What a great job you do.
I know it takes a lot of work because I have been to a few cemeteries just
checking out my kin and it is hard to find them.
Thank you again.

Hi Tammy,
You have made my day!!!!!!!! Thank you so very much.
I visited your website to see the Breathitt co court records and
lo an behold, there was my ggrandfather being charged with owning
and operating a moonshine still. My ggrandfather was Bud HOOVER, who was
raised
by a family of Marshall's and used their surname while living (running
moonshine) in
Breathitt Co. He later moved (hid out) in Floyd CO where he reverted back to
using
his own surname. Do you have any more information? I would love to

Jim and all,
Actually, only 25% of the census was destroyed in the fire while 50% was
water damaged. Most of the surviving pages were destroyed in the 1930's.
There are some surviving census pages.

Hi John, Do you have any info on Jerimiah Bowling/Bolling/Bowland of Russell
and Lee CO, VA 1790s' who may have gone to Warren CO, TN ca 1810. I have
found him in the same places as my Cope family and I am trying to get info on
the Jerimiah Bowling of Warren CO, TN.
Sincerely, David C. Cope - Newbury Park, CA
Ken,
There are practically NO census records for the year 1890 for the entire US.
The records were all stored in a building that caught fire and burned. Only
fragments of records were saved. None were for Breathitt County. Makes it
hard for the period from 1880-1990.

Did not find a William & Martha Combs in the 1910 or 1920 Breathitt Census.
In the 1910 Breathitt Census I found:
