1. Re: [KYBRECKI] Legacy vs FTM 2005 [1]
One new aspect of the FTM 2005 that I like is the capability to click on a button and bring up information from the data base for that individual. I have been able to add census information easily to my program. I only add the info that I know is relevant to my ancestor. 2. Legacy vs FTM 2005 [1]
Although my wife and I have used Legacy for several years now, formerly we used Family Tree Maker for Windows (FTW) exclusively and I was a beta tester for each new version of the software for several years until this year. I was not a tester for FTW 2005. I guess I didn't get invited to do the testing this year because I was on vacation last year during the beta testing and did not contribute too much. Anyway, I use the Deluxe version of Legacy and am perfectly satisfied with it except for trying
3. Re: [KYBRECKI] Legacy vs FTM 2005 [1]
Gary & list: FTM 2005 has improved the sourcing with an "parchment scroll" icon to the right next to where the name, date of birth, death, marriage etc. And notes inputting with a pop-up window from a single click of the "pencil" icon below the group sheet listing of the father and mother's data blocks. Notes are done the same way for the children only the "pencil" icon is located to the left side. I agree with your point that not just one program can do all the things you might want to do in an ef
4. RE: [KYBRECKI] Legacy vs FTM 2005 [1]
Well, the difference is probably in the eye of the beholder. I'd rather not change programs because I like and am used to FTM's format. The 2005 format is a bit different, seems to be taking on qualities from other MyFamily offerings (Ancestry Family Tree [AFT]). I use several programs to do different tasks. FTM for input AFT for searching Ancestry for new family files Ancestral Author to create AWESOME PDF files. Did I let on how much I like that program?? RootsMagic to create great web pages I haven't
5. Cloversport Ky factory 1870s [1]
I found on the 1870 census for Cloversport, Breckinridge co., Ky an Annie Fisher. Listed under occupation was factory worker. Wondering what type of factory it might be. I know nothing about Annie just curious about the type of factory.

7. Re: [KYBRECKI] Legacy or FTM 2005 [1]
P.S. One more issue regarding FTM as opposed to Legacy. If my understanding of the fine print is correct, FTM gives you a website at Genealogy.com, but if you post your family tree on it, the data is theirs, and they can and do take your data, put it on CD and sell it to the public for a price. You do the research, they reap the profits. Legacy also gives you a website, but the data is yours. Websites are a bit beyond my capability right now, but I have my eye on it for the future. -- Alice
8. Legacy or FTM 2005 [1]
I have a question. I am seeing many post about the differences between the new Family Tree Maker 2005 (www.ftm2005.com) and the Legacy Family Tree Program. I have used the PAF and ftm7.0 before and have looked in most of the reviews of all the Family Tree progams out there, from all this I have seen that FTM2005 and Legacy are the top 2 programs out there. I am leaning towards the FTM 2005 since it is the most popular but some Legacy folks have made some good points. Basically I am torn between which one to
