If my Pierce family lived in Breckinridge County, Kentucky when Ky
became a state, what part of VA would I search for
their records back when KY was Virginia??
Does anyone understand the question I hope so.
Thank You
Judy
I like all these answers.
Here is another: Where do we find out about ferries? I assume there were
no bridges at that time. My people were in Nelson, Hardin, LaRue,
Breckinridge.

I said I found Allen Hamilton in the 1850 Sullivan co, Ind census and then lost him. I checked my records again and I was wrong I have him in his father's James Hamilton Will in 1855 Sullivan co, Ind I still don't know where Allen Hamilton lived. Allen Hamilton mother was Catherine Bruner. Any help would be greatly appreciated and I'm sorry for the mistake and any trouble it may have caused anybody

Try going through newspapers -- sounds like a newsworthy event for
sure! I hope you have a good "guestimate year" for this. Then
check the courthouse records to see if there was a court trial -- but
getting the date should be easier via a newspaper I think. Good luck. Linda

You should look for where there were Ferrys.
Wickliffe, KY was across from Belmont, MO and Hickman, KY also went to
Mississippi Co., MO.
I find a lot of KY couples in those marriage records.

How would I go about finding out who shot who???
I was told that a PIERCE shot someone - he shot him
just because the PIERCE person was mean!! Then I have also
heard that another PIERCE brother shot someone but this
poor person deserved it. LOL
How interesting this would be to find. This is my direct line.
The father of the two PIERCE brothers was John PIERCE.
These brothers lived in Breckenridge County Kentucky and if I
am not mistaken they were named Walter, Henry or Tom PIERCE.
Not sure which two it w

Hi all....
I'm still working my way back into somewhat of a normal routine, so bear with me a little longer. I've done a little bit concerning revisions with what's on the GenWeb Archives site already, and hopefully I'll be able to have some of the tiny cemeteries online today. Not sure when they will be on today, but I'm going to work on a few of them at least and get them online.
Many thanks to Tammy for alerting me to a file misnaming that led to problems with Minter and Milburn researchers looking f

Being rather new to Kentucky genealogy, I have two legal type questions.
What was the age of consent for young men and youmg women to marry in
the 1800-1830 time period?
In the same time period, was there a residence or property requirement
for a citizen to be on a jury?
Thank you for any information you may be able to pass on.

This is a database at the Indiana State Library.
After that you might want to look for the WPA books for Perry County.
They are available at many local libraries. I can not remember if the
Archives at Breckinridge County has them or not. I think they may.
They were also available on CD at one time through Heritage Quest.

There was a ferry between Hawesville, Hancock County, KY, and Cannelton,
Perry County, IN, that operated until the Cummings Bridge was finished circa
1960.
