Hello All,
I just read a portion of "The History of Pittsylvania County," which
attributes the naming of the Pigg River to Jess' grandfather, Paul Pigg.
Jess, you've been holding out on us. Just think, a body of water that will
eternally roll to the sea was named for your forebear! WHEW!
Well, I'M IMPRESSED!

Hi Jess,
My eys lit up when I saw the name Nancy Robinson (who married Jim
McDaniel). She is not my Nancy, though; my Nancy was born 1842 in Clay Co,
KY. She was the daughter of James Robertson/Robinson and Martha Patsey
Benge. I have information on James' other two children, Benjamin (my gg
grandfather), and Elizabeth, but Nancy has remained a mystery. Do you have
any information on Nancy or her family? Benjamin was a Union soldier in
the Civil War. His pension file is not located in the National Ar

I'm not sure if this helps or not. I'll have to get with my Mom and see if
see or her oldest sister recognizes any of the names. I don't.

Thanks, I conclude that since WWH said (as recorded by Rev. Dickey) that he
and Polina had five children that either Buttler or Nancy could be the 5th
child. Just a guess that Buttler is his son and Nancy could be his wife. I'll
put it in my
Anna, One of my problems is that I know more dead people than live ones. At
the early age of 13, I was hustled off to boarding schools until I was 18
years old. The only time I was "home" was during the summers when my father
kept me in the hay, corn and tobacco fields from Monday morning until late
Saturday afternoons. Most of the local people I knew were drunks I met at
"The Spur' or at Puny's Playhouse on Saturday nights. Just half joking, of
course.

Looking at the index of names in the Dickey Diary, I found some of the names
in my family, LOGAN & NAPIER. I deleted, by accident those notes. Is there a
way to find the archives of older notes sent that might be on the website?
Thanks,
Cathy

TO ALL,
Many moons ago, I promised a narrative and maps showing where some of the
early Bakers lived, including a brother-in-law, Christopher Bowling. Now at
last the pamphlet is ready, 20- 8 1/2 X 11 inch pages. Those who have asked
and anyone wanting a copy, give me a mailing address and request. Don't
send the $5.00 until you receive the pamphlet and then only if you think it
is worth the money to you.
