In response to the question
NARA WWI casualty lists. By the side of each name are 3-letter codes that I can't decipher. The serviceman is designated either DND, FOD, DOW, KIA, OR DOI. I have the following definitions
dow = died of wounds
doi = died of injuries
kia = killed in action
What does dnd and fod stand for?
dnd is died non battle
fod is finding of death
(declared dead, i.e. if a plane doesn't return, after a year crew declared dead)

Hello all,
Would someone with the 1880 cencus please do a lookup for me? I am looking for the household of William Parks. A son William (age 10)and a son Samuel ? should also be listed, to help narrow it down. I would be interested in all the names in the household. Thanks so much!

I've just come across a note that states my great-grandmother, Sophronia
(Hensley) Robinson was baptized in the Robinson Baptist Church in 1891.
Sophronia and James Buchanon Robinson lived around the Antepast area of Clay
County.
Has anyone ever heard of a "Robinson" Baptist Church in that area? Does
anyone have any information on Baptist Churches of Clay County, KY?
Thanks,

I respectfully and intelligently appreciate all views in this OPEN forum
including that of V. Keith. Just because you may not agree with a
professional diagnosis, certainly gives you or anyone else the right to be
rude. Boston Baker sounds like he was a VERY interesting individual that
has probably spurred many people to WONDER about the why's and whatfore's of
his actions. Thank you V. Keith for giving us another view and for
exorcising your right to share in a very POSITIVE way !!!

Hi,
Jess you would most likely know this question, if anyone does.
But, would any one know what is or was the custom that the old timers used related
to burials. When husband and wives where buried side by side which side, left or right
would have the wife have been buried by their husband.
Thanks,
Darlene
In the 1850 Clay County, KY census complied

Mary------------------age 9------- Born N.C.
Elizabeth---------------age 6------- Born N.C.
Emily------------------age 3
Daniel-----------------age 6/12
(The name was spelled Whitamore in the Census)
In the 1860 Clay County Census I found:
William Whitemore-----age 41--b. Tn. Farmer- Real Est value 1000

The following newspaper clipping from Logan County, Kentucky, may be interesting to fellow listmembers. It is taken from the Knott County Historical Society's Electronic Chronological History of Eastern Kentucky 1673-2000. If you can elaborate upon this history, please share it with us.

Looking for information on the following people. John (Cotton-head)
Smith, born August 30th, 1867 in Clay County, Kentucky. John died about
1942 in Arkansas.
His father was listed on his death certificate as Cair Smith, no name
given for the mother.
His wife was Amberzine Hoskins.
Any information whatsoever would be great. This Cair is a total
mystery.
The serviceman is designated either DND, FOD, DOW, KIA, OR DOI. I
know that KIA means "killed in action." Does anybody know that the other
initials stand for?
These are the ones I have heard so far.
dow = died of wounds
doi = died of injuries
kia = killed in action
Hi,
Thanks everyone for your responses to my question !!
I wish you all well,

Vieta, Your point is well taken. I am not an educated phycologist, don't
rightly know if I can even spell the word. I am impressed most by Boston
Baker's ego. On a dare he would tackle anything. Once, on a bet, he had a
fight with a bulldog. The dog was under a porch. Boston Approached the
porch on his hands and knees. When the bulldog lunged toward him he caught
the dog's ear between his teeth. When he released the dog he ran back under
the porch or so goes the tale.
