I am researching my COOP ancestors and I have heard there were a lot of COOPs in Clinton County. I saw no queries for this surname in the Clinton Co. Archives, though, so am hoping someone on the list may be a COOP descendant and can point me in the right direction.
My GGG-grandmother was Patsy COOP. She married Purnell BISHOP. Their daughter, Eliza Ann BISHOP, b. before 1835, married James Harrington. Their daughter, Julia Ann HARRINGTON, b. 1845, Harrison Co., KY, m. James W. INGRAM, b. 1844, Bath Co.

News-Gazette, Champaign, Illinois:
"Hoopeston, Illinois: Funeral services for Edward Neathery, 100, of
Hoopeston will be a 11 a.m. Friday (Dec. 19, 2003) at Brown-Alkire Funeral

One of the top stories in 2003 in this newsletter was the arrest of Elias Abodeely, a 23-year-old in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, who ran a string of pseudo genealogy sites. His arrest didn't seem to deter him: 2004 has started off with a rash of the same advertising.
