1. [KYJP] Your Indulgence, Please.... [1]
My friends - I write this in haste to let you know that there will be no data post today. I received a call a short time ago from an individual with whom I have been working on some biographical material on the Skaggs family of Calloway County(from which I descend). He is preparing a written piece connected with this work, and found, just a few hours before the deadline for submitting the text, that he was missing some crucial biographical data on several individuals. I am currently trying to get tha

4. [KYJP] Graves Co. - Reports of Commissioners [1]
While searching deeds relating to Hazard Thompson's estate in McCracken Co. I found the following note on a property division of his estate: "... divided property into numerous lots as defined in Commissioners Report and Plat of divisions of said estate on file in Book of Reports of Commissioners division of lands, pgs 54-60." (Graves Co.) Note that although the subject properties were almost entirely in McCracken Co. in the New Hope area, this report/commission was constituted in Graves Co. The Commiss

6. [KYJP] Franklin P. Whitford/Eggner, stepson of Milton Eggner [1]
Seeking information on Franklin P. Whitford / Eggner of Marshall County, Kentucky. I have read the sketch of Milton Eggner in the Marshall County family history book, but it does not give the name of Franklin's father. On 1860 Federal Census for Marshall County, Franklin is listed as Franklin Eggner, age 16, birthplace Kentucky, and living in the home of his mother Sarah and stepfather Milton Eggner. On the 1850 Federal Census for Marshall County, Franklin is listed as Franklin Whitford, age 5, birthplac
7. [KYJP] Graves County Order Book G - New Page Images Now Ready - Pages 300-325 [1]
My friends - I am dropping by to let everyone know that I have now completed the digitization of pages 300-325 in Graves County Order Book G, and they are ready for distribution. Here, again, as a recap, are the guidelines for requesting the individual images of the pages: 1)No more than 5 requests for page images per segment (a "segment" is a 25 page group, such as 300-325) 2)Please do not request page numbers higher than 325 - they are *not* digitized yet 3)Using the Subject line of "GCOBG Image

Am looking for graves in the LINDER CEMETERY for some of my ancestors --- Nancy Elizabeth LINDER (died after 1840) and her husband Major FIELDS (died 1878) and their son Samuel FIELDS (died 1898). This was my GGG-Granparents & GG-Granparent. If anyone has info. on these people or sees their names (any FIELDS names would be a help) in the cemetery book I'd be so grateful to know about it. Thanks, GB __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Send FREE Valentine eCards with Yahoo!

My friends - Today we are returning to McCracken County to continue our review of the Vital Statistics birth records in the 1852 - 1860 time frame. Subscribers to the JP List can obtain the full dataset for a birth shown in the listing below(which usually includes the date of birth, gender of the child if not obvious, and the name of the father and maiden name of the mother) by sending a request to me. As always, please refrain from resending this entire message back to me with the request. As I note
12. [KYJP] Some Interesting Web Sites [1]
My friends - Thursdays are the day on which I normally post items concerning terminology, JP biographies, etc. I ran across several web pages from a genealogy source that I found to be interesting, so I am passing those along to you for your review. Some of it is fairly elementary, but I found it to be worthwhile reading. Here are the sites: http://genealogytoday.com/columns/everyday/020204.html http://genealogytoday.com/columns/ruby/020209.html http://genealogytoday.com/articles/civil_war.html As
13. [KYJP] Hoe Killing, June 1899, Carlisle Co., Kentucky, CLARK vs. FURLONG [1]
Sometime during the month of June 1899, GEORGE THOMAS CLARK, born 1879, and his father, JAMES THOMAS CLARK, known as Tommy, born 1854, were hoeing tobacco in one of their fields in Carlisle County, Kentucky. There had been feuds, picking, and bullying of James Thomas Clark by a neighbor, CALVIN LUTHER FURLONG for some time. James Clark became very tired and weary of these confrontations and one day as he and his son George Clark were working in their tobacco field, when they noticed Calvin Furlong appro

16. [KYJP] Marshall County - Vital Statistics Records - Births - 1852-1859, 1861 - Part 60 [1]
My friends - As we begin another week, we are returning to Marshall County to continue our review of the Vital Statistics birth records for that County in the year 1861. Before moving to that area, however, I need to take a moment to reiterate our need to remain focused and on-topic on the JP List. Our "mission" is the study and discussion of the history and genealogy of the families of the 8 counties of the Jackson Purchase region of KY. Postings which are not relevant to that subject area, or whic
17. [KYJP] Bureau of Land Management Web Site [1]
My friends - I noticed an inquiry about the BLM website which appeared on the List, and I'll update you about that situation briefly. The BLM site was taken down some time ago as ordered by a federal court judge, due to a pending lawsuit involving some Native American lands. The BLM has now received sanction to restore the site, but it very likely will not be as comprehensive as it was before, at least for awhile. At the moment, they are having technical difficulties, as I understand it, and do not

20. Re: [KYJP] William Terry [1]
Lisa, THE KENTUCKY ENCYCLOPEDIA, edited by John E. Kleber, University Press of Kentucky, 1992, reads on the dust jacket, "Biographical sketches portray all of Kentucky's governors and U. S.senators, as well as noted congressmen and state and local politicians." There is no biographical sketch for William Terry. Specifically, the surnames included in this file are: Muller, Murrell, Murchell, Murry, Mulhen
22. [KYJP] No Data Post Today - Technical Difficulties [1]
My friends - Although I am not yet aware of where the problem lies, I do know that I am receiving over 100 "bounces" for each message that is currently being sent to the JP List, which leads me to believe that there is a hub failure somewhere. All yahoo, apex, juno, hotmail and several other ISP addresses are bouncing. I do not know if or when you will receive this, but, rather than send out a data post that may not make it through to everyone, I will forego today's data post until we see the 'Net fu
