Richard,
I am rightly reprimanded and I sincerely apologize! I originally mailed it
to Steve privately, and when Joan asked that "Steve et al" share, forwarded
it without thinking!
We must be very careful about violating copy-right laws.
This is such a wonderful work that you have put together, and I thank you so
much for having put it out there to further educate and enlighten us. It is
one of the most detailed and helpful articles on Marriage Bonds that I have
seen.

My friends -
I am again checking in with the List, as my wife and I continue the process
of moving to another residence. Time has allowed me to prepare another
essay from those of the late Dr. Gordon Wilson, the great storyteller who
was born and grew to manhood in New Concord in Calloway County.
This selection is entitled, 'The Smokehouse', and is from Dr. Wilson's
little book, "Passing Institutions". In reading this piece, one can almost
smell and taste the exquisite scents and meats which emanated

Mrs. Bessie Prince, wife of Jim Prince died at her home six miles west of Mayfield Monday morning at 5 o'clock.
She had been afflicted with tuberculosis for the pat two years.
After this long struggle this dread disease claimed her for its own.

She was a daughter of Marsh Clapp and was a lady well beloved by all who knew her.
Her husband is now in the army "at so

My friends -
Time has permitted me a bit of leeway today, and I have prepared for
posting another of the little essays written by Dr. Gordon Wilson,
originally from Fidelity(more commonly known as New Concord) in Calloway
County. This selection is from his first book, "Passing Institutions", and
is titled,
'The Clock Tinker'.
I can recall my late grandmother, who was born in Calloway County, using
the term "clock tinker". In my generation, the clock tinker was perhaps
superceded in some ways by the

My friends -
I am again "checking in" to say that my wife and I are "down to the wire"
on our move, with the actual physical transfer of household furniture and
other items occurring later this week.
The computers will be physically moved on Wednesday, and, as a result, I
may be out of touch for most of that day. If all goes well, my broadband
access will transfer that day, although I do have dialup access if
something should be problematical with the broadband.
I will very likely not be posting any
My friends -
I am dropping by for a moment to say that my wife and I are in the midst of
our preparation for moving at the end of this month, with all which that
entails. As luck would have it, my wife's annual bout with bronchitis set
in toward the end of last week, which is keeping her sidelined for the time
being.
I am continuing to monitor the List each day, and as time permits, I will
be posting some items as we go along during this busy period.
A cousin and myself are looking for the connection between the Elliott's and
Garton's.
Below is an e-mail sent to me by my cousin with information from an Elliott
bible. We have been trying to find the connection between the two families.
Any help would be appreciate.
Thank You

I have seen one picture of my Grandfather, Wavel Morris, which someone had many years ago. Please, if you or someone you know has pictures of the Morris families from the east side of Calloway County, please c

In May of this year I posted the below information and received lots of information on "Braxton Small" of Paducah from folks on the list but was not able to identify the sister of Henry B. Landon. I just found 1860 census data for McCracken Co. that listed J. N. Small (Farmer - 29) & wife Delphia A. Small (26). They had children J. B. (6), John E. (3), & Marie E. (2). The 1880 census for Murray, Calloway Co. disclosed that J. N. was no longer in the family unit. And that J. B. (now 26 and still at home with
I met a lady on Wednesday at the Pogue Library at Murray who was seeking information on her ancestor named Reuben B. Harrison. She said he was born in 1844, died January 12 or 13, 1910, and was buried in Seay Cemetery near Linnville in Graves County. He was living in Washington County, Tennessee, in 1860. I did some searching and found that in 1870 he was living in Arkansas; 1880, 1900, and 1910 in Graves County, KY. The 1910 Census enumeration of him was on April 23, so he did not die in January. The
