Donald DeZarn; This story you have sent is a very good example
of what can be done in retelling a story. I could not have done
a better job myself. As my grand uncle (he was grand in more
ways than one) Thomas Baker, s/o Andy and Jane, once advised me,
"Jess, never retell a story unless you can improve.it"
Granduncle was not asking me to stray from the facts of a story,
just add a different view. Put another light on the subject..

I am also restricted by illness and seldom leave the house except for needed
doctor's visits. I live in Kingston, TN, comparatively not too far from you, I
guess.
I am not a native Laurel Countian, but my father and his family were. My
father's mother and all her siblings grew up in East Bernstadt, and some of them
married and stayed in the London area for many years, some of them teaching
school. The family na

At the Bureau of Vital Statistics in Frankfort, KY there are a series of 12 books
which contain "Delayed Birth Certificates before 1911. These DBCs came about by
a person proving their birth information and then submitting that proof to the

The Swiss Picnic is August 21, potluck meal around noon on Saturday, dance

I am looking for information on my gggrandparents.
Marlin Jones born in KY abt 1827. Married Catharine McCreary who was also
born in KY. Don't know anything else about her. The 1870 Bush's Store, Laurel
County Census had Marlin listed as being 43-years old. Also in his family
were Sarah A. age 31 (don't know if she was a sister, wife #2 or what),
America (my ggrandmother) age 14, Mary age 12, and Joseph age 9. If anyone
has information on any of these people I'd love to hear from you.
Thanks........

You have given me hope. I wonder how I could get in touch with this man and
ask him where he found the birth records. June Bork wrote me and said she
worked in the Wayne Co courthouse while writing her book and sound she found
no birth records there at all. If he would even call me collect I would
love it. My number is 606-986-7279. My mobile is 606-582-8018. Or I
would write him. Whatever I could do, I would. Thank you so much for your
letter.
