The 5th Annual Scott Co, TN Researchers Get-Together will be held
Tuesday, 31 May 2005, in Oneida at the Helenwood Baptist Church starting
at 10am and going until we tire out. If you have research interests in
the Scott Co area (and adjoining counties) then this is the event for
you. Last year was a tremendous time and we exchanged a lot of useful

Does anyone have information on Paul Dow Swain, b 1938, son of Lewis
Ernest Swain and Blanch Maxine Strunk? He and his sisters would be 2nd
cousins of mine, descendants of my grandmother's (Rosa Genetta Swain
Ball) brother, Lorenzo Dow Swain, 1888-1944 and Edith Martin 1896-1971.
Also looking for information on Thomas Earl Swain, b 1914, also a son of
Lorenzo Dow Swain and Edith Martin. Thomas married Marsaleete Witt.
These families were in Whitley or McCreary Co., KY.

ALBANY - Jimmy L. Maples, 61, Albany, passed away Thursday afternoon,
February 3, 2005, at Ball Memorial Hospital.
He was born in McCreary County, Kentucky, August 19, 1943, the son of Edna
Gregory Maples and William I. Maples. Jimmy lived most of his life in the Muncie
area.
Before he retired, he worked at Brodericks and for the Yellow Cab Company.
He was a member of the East Side Missionary Baptist Church.
Mr. Maples was a U.S. Coast Guard veteran.

MUNCIE - Jewell Dobbs, 89, was called home by the Lord on Saturday, February
12, 2005, after being hospitalized with a brief illness.
Jewell was born in Bell Hill, Kentucky on January 11, 1916. She was the
daughter of Rev. H. E. and Mertie "Coffey" Phipps. She attended schools in the
Wayne County area, the last being Parmelysville High School.
Jewell married Ross Dobbs on June 16, 1934. Ross and Jewell resided in the
McCreary County, Kentucky area for

for the Iwo Jima Memorial. Pvt Sousley was later killed in action on Iwo Jima on

I just watch the program on The History Channel, and I don't believe he was
from Hill Top, KY. I may very well be wrong, but I thought they said, something
like, Haven. Look him up on googles and see what you find.

MUNCIE - Regal Gregory, 69, went to be with his Lord Saturday, February 5th
2005.
He was born in Stearns, KY on April 16, 1935 to Edgar and Dovie "Koger"
Gregory.
He lived in Muncie his entire adult life and retired from Franks Foundry in
1984.
He was a faithful member of Westside United Baptist Church, which he loved
very much.
He was also an avid fisherman and hunter.

When my daughter Nicole was in grade school we went to Washington, DC with
her class. I can't remember if it was the tour guide or if it was a
teacher - any way someone on that trip said one of fellows who raised the
flag was from our county. I was trying to figure out who they meant. Could
be they themself were confused.
