Family History Book Proofs Have Arrived
The McCreary County Historical and Genealogical Society is excited because
it has received the printed pages of the McCreary County Family History
Book for proof reading. It looks good! The publishers say, if all goes as
planned, it will be finished in the spring.

I would like to ask your help in identifying some old pictures that came
from an old farm in the New Liberty community in present McCreary County
(formerly Whitley Co.). They could have come from Pulaski or Wayne Co. also
of course.
There is a picture of 2 Civil War soldiers, one of a lady, and one of a
young lady or girl. I bought these soley to prevent their going to a
tourist display in a bed and breakfast in Alabama. I did not want them lost
to our own history. These people no doubt are th
Petre, Elizabeth--Wife of the late T.J. Petre of Helenwood was born June 17,
1870, departed this life Dec. 11, 1950, age 80 years, 4 months, 24 days. She
leaves to mourn her departure one brother Lewis Thompson, Gleanniger, Ky.,
four step children, Mrs. Anna Kidwell of Knoxville; Silas Petre of
Helenwood; Ida Petre of Knoxville; a large number of nephews and nieces and
a host of friends. She joined Helenwood Baptist Church by letter from Pine
Creek March 1, 1930 and was a devoted member until death but som
Keeton, Brother Granville--Aged 68 years, departed this life
March 28, 1951. He professed a hope in Christ and was baptized into the
Cherry Fork Church Oct. 27, 1923. He leaves a widow, five sons and three
daughters and a host of friends and relatives to mourn is absence. May they
all live so the circle will be unbroken in that day as we hope our loss in
his gain.
Stephens, Andy--Was born July 25, 1862, age 88 years, 10 months,
12 days. Departed this life June 6, 1951. He joined the Pleasant Grove

Bauswell, Mrs. Hollie Chambers--Born May 29, 1906, departed this life April
24, 1951, age 44 years, 10 months, 28 days. She professed a hope in Christ
in the year 1934, and joined Pine Hill Church but moved her letter to Tunnel
Hill Baptist Church where she remained a faithful member until death. She
