*16 Dec 1941* County is asked to raise $2000 in the War Fund Drive for the Red Cross. A total of 326 men were examined by the U.S. Army Medical Board Monday and Tuesday at Somerset. Defense Bond Club formed. Tire sales were banned beginning Dec. 11 till Dec. 22. McCrearians are ready to serve. State now on wartime basis. I hope some of the veterans mentioned here are with us on the lists or at least that their children or grandchildren are. *28 October 1941* Mrs. C.W. Hume, local draft board, announced the calling of seven men. Azriah Dillard GRIFFIS, Smithtown, and John Sanford WHITE, Wiborg, are on duty as soldiers in Iceland. *02 Dec 1941* A Whitley City man is the first McCrearian to be rejected for the draft ... he's too tall at 6 feet 9 inch

Hello List~ I have been contacted by someone who has found a McCreary County High School class ring with the initials "H.D.K" from the class of 1967. We are looking for the owner. If you know someone from that class with those initials, please get back to me or have them get in touch. I checked the yearbook and the only name I came up with is Dwight KOGER - and I don't know if he has an 'H' before his name but I think his father's name is Harold. Hello List Members; Letting you know that I have just completed adding over 4,000 burial records from Hickman - Strunk Funeral Home in Whitley City, McCreary County to the McCreary County site. These start in 1952 but the information they furnish goes back MUCH further. The oldest date I remember from my transcribing is for Belle Barnett who was born in 1844. Her parents' names are given so you can see how far-reaching some of these records are. [There is an 1824 birthdate listed but I have a feeling that
