Genealogy
According to the dictionary genealogy is:
1. A record or account of the descent of a family, group or person
from an ancestor or ancestors; a family tree.
2. Direct descent from a progenitor; lineage or pedigree.
3. The study or investigation of ancestry and family histories.
To me, however, genealogy is a whole lot more than those three dry
sentences. It is finding my roots, my family, and my home.
It is seeing my grandparents as a young couple in a census record

Hi List,
This is a very interesting piece and I was grateful to Nancy for bringing
it to our attention!! I did print it and it ran to only 13 pages. I live
near Celina, TX and will do a little digging re some of the folks mentioned
in this story as I'm sure that some of their descendants are still in the
area. Thanks again, Nancy.

William served in 9th KY Vol Inf. Co G. He contacted a disease and was
discharged Nov 6, 1862. He never recovered and died November 16, 1869 in
Warren County (or Monroe Co. on one record). Copies of his marriage license
and certificate show he married Nancy Ann Loyd on

Does anyone know of a source which lists marriages performed by Rev. John Mulkey during the period from about 1797 to 1844, when he died? The earlier marriages would have been associated with Mill Creek Baptist Church; and from 1811 on, would have been while he was pastor of the Christian Church in what is now known as the Old Mulkey Meetinghouse.
John Mulkey is my g-g-g-grandfather.
Thanks in advance for any help you may provide.

I have a Wheeler ancestor that lived in Monroe co KY. I have a copy of his
military papers that indicate he was a Union deserter.
Can anyone tell me if there is any way to further research the deserters and
what might have happened to them?
Any help is appreciated.

It seemed that no sooner had I hite the "send" button on my genealogy
description yesterday, when I received this genealogy article from another
cousin. It has a little more humor, and I'm sure that many of you can relate -
at least as far as your co-workers are concerned! I've certainly had the
occasional odd looks !!
