List, I found an item in a KY newspaper. The item was address to William, Samuel, Abraham & Richard Williamson. Cornelius Williamson had left his wife at Redstone Fort in January to visit his friends in KY. A part of it was a bit obscured, but in essence is says: A Cornelius Williamson left his wife and children at the "old Redstone Fort" (in PA) to visit his friends/family in KY and hasn't been heard of since. Also, there is an item in a KY newspaper about a Richard Williamson that was kille

Richard, Thanks for this information on the Williamson family. I have a Williamson connection that I have not been successful in documenting. James Bruster (also spelled Brewster or Bruister) married an Elinor Williamson. They may have married in PA or in Ireland (James, born about 1720, was from County Derry near Coleraine and came to America "as a young man"). They are listed as a married couple in Augusta County VA beginning about 1750. The part of Augusta County in which they were living became Roc

16. Re: [KYSCOTT-L] HAMMOND or HANNAH - SCOTT COUNTY 1870 [1]
I am looking at page 336B of that census. There is 360 Hammond, 361 is Hannah. In the line just above this the enumerator has also written "hannah" by comparing the two on my copy I make out 6 letters spelling Hannah, not 7 as in Hammond. The stroke pattern would indicate "n's" to me not "m's". The letter at the end of the name is clearly "h" not "d",as compared to the 361 entry against the 362 entry for the name, "HAMMOND -- HANNAH" 362 Hamond , Nathan The em. seems to have crossed out something a letter

21. [KYSCOTT-L] HAMMOND or HANNAH - SCOTT COUNTY 1870 [1]
Does anyone have access to the 1870 Scott County Census, who would be willing to help me? In Turkey Foot Precinct, Household 361, there is the name HANNAH or HAMMOND, Nancy. She is age 68. Children are: John, James, Breckenridge, Parker, and Martha. Please verify which of these surnames that is. Then, in Household 362, there is a HAMMOND, but we cannot determine his first name. He is age 58, wife Lutitia is 42 (hard to read) and two children. What is the husband's first name? If there is anyone re
22. [KYSCOTT-L] McClelland Monument in Georgetown [1]
Hi- I was in Scott County last summer and took some pictures of a monument at Royal Spring dedicated to McClelland and his men. On the back of the monument is engraved the names of revolutionary soldiers buried in Scott County. At that time I was interested in my Craig ancestors but I have since learned that another ancestor, Josiah Dickson (Dixon) was at the fort and was one of two men captured by the Indians. Does anyone know if his name is engraved on the monument? If not, is there another monument? If

The North wing closes today. The collection is all being transferred to South. The reopening is scheduled for Sept. 20, 1999. But call first
