I am trying to break down my brickwall. John C. Brown served in the unit
above during the Civil War. Does anyone have a reference book containing the
Veterans Questionnaires? That may not be the correct terminology, but I have
heard there is such a thing, where soldiers filed out questionnaires on their
service record, family history, etc. I am desperately trying to determine the
name of John's parents. He shows on the Cumberland Co., KY 1860 Census he was
b. TN but I am not even sure which county. Ap
Hi, I dont want to sound too silly here , But my question is. When a boy
or man enlisted during the civil war. Were there papers they had to sign
when they enlisted? Especially if they were underage. Maybe that would
have listed their parents names (or wives) in case something happened to
them.
The reason I ask is I have been searching for the maiden name of my
ggrandfather
JOHN R. FROST'S mother for years with no luck.He served in the 1st
Kentucky Calvary , I have his pension records, but they have no

Hello everyone! I'm gathering as much information as I can on the veterans
of this
unit. I will posting the roll of this unit in the near future and would like
to
include individual biographies if you'd like to share. Thanks in advance!
Hi All,
I'm looking for info on the men who served in Co E, 5th KY Mtd Inf. There is
very little info available on Company E. The company was recruited by Capt.
John Calvert in Sept 1861 mostly of Owen County men. I have a roster of Co
E, but am in need of info on the members. I have two family members,
Woodford Cull and John H. Stivers, who were in Co E so I am trying to put
together a unit history and what info I can gather on the men.
If anyone has someone who was in this unit please let me kno
Do you have any thing on On William Issac Burton, my gggrandfather? He
joined John Hunt Morgan's Kentucky Calvary when he was 14 and was captured
and put in prison and released only after taking allegiance to the Union.
Regards,
Gary Martin

Lisa,
I was wondering if you had ever found the burial place of Micheal Buster.
He died at Stone River but apparently, his grave is not listed in any of the
cemeterys. Do you suppose he was an Unknown?
Another thing, Micheal isn't on the Roll of Honor either (That I can find).
Since he died at the Battle of Stone River he should have been.
Any ideas?

Do you have a list of the men? I have several family ties in Owen County
Kentucky, and would be glad to see what I have on them.
Thanks!
Terry Combs Caldwell
P.S. I am slow to post with an active family, don't think I've forgotten
you!

He survived the war, was taken prisoner of war in Georgia, sent to Andersonville
prison, escaped. and is buried at Albany Kentucky. I just thought if they kept
records like this, they may contain some mention of his mother.Ive tried
everything else. and just curious if they didnt have these records, how did they
notify family, or know who to notify? Laura

Do you have his death certificate? Have you contacted the cemetery where he
is buried and requested his internment paper work? You have to trace
backward, starting with the most obvious first. Sometimes the wives,
mother's and family members did not know what happened to their loved ones.
