I just wanted to introduce myself to the list. I have just recently
traced this part of my family to Ascension Parish.
I am researching:

LANDRY
BRAUD
BROUR (BREAU, BROUSSE, BRUSSE, BOURG)
Related burials were found in the Prairieville Cemetery. I believe
that's a Catholic cemetery associated with the St. John's Church, which
is adjacent to it. Any information on how to contact St. John's for
further information would be appreciated, as would any input on
research in this Parish

do...it really helps...Sophia called Mary married William Cooper...(i don't have
yr) they lived around St. Tammany Parish...she died young with three
kids...this is my line....these Coopers were in Natchez Miss Territory before LA....came
from GA...maybe Carolinas before that.

I ran across this posted...it is my ancestors, but I want to confirm it and
see if anyone elseislisted...i believe the familyhad just come from the
carolinas maybe...notsure, but this says all kids were baptised in baton rough on the
same day. any ideas?
Records of St. Josephs of Baton Rouge show the following children of
Guillermo(William) Wilson and Maria(Mary) Richeson baptised:

DOBR v 2 p 725 has same children. Parents are identified as from Bayou
Sarah so they probably had been here a while. If they had just come
from US children would have been baptised there!
Looking at Godparents all Acadian (the parents wanted their children to
be to be accepted). How soon did they marry & did they marry
Acadians? (Burke = Bourque = Bourg?)
Remember the only church that the Spanish allowed was Roman Catholic.
Children could not be baptised in parent's church. Any church wo
