Looking for information on any and all descendants of William Scroggs who was born Rowan or Iredell County, NC, abt. 1777 and who arrived in Avoyelles Parish from North Carolina prior to 1820. His wife's name was Elizabeth (Holt or Holzhouser or Holshouser), she was born in Mississippi around 1800. Their children are thought to be: John C. Does anyone know anything about John Furlow b 1805/06 in MS, was in Avoyelles for 1840 census. Died there after the 1870 census. Married Lydia Taylor in 1841 in East Feliciana. RFraz34007@aol.com emailed the following to me, which I assume is the home of the LaCour ancestor so many of us in Avoyelles have: Nicholas Lacour House: The home is recorded as the oldest known building left in the Mississippi Valley. The home was built in Pointe Coupee Parish around 1740. It was moved to Jefferson island and underwent partial restoration. The construction is "bousillage entre poteaux."
