Looking for information on any and all descendants of William Scroggs who was
born Rowan or Iredell County, NC, abt. 1777 and who arrived in Avoyelles
Parish from North Carolina prior to 1820. His wife's name was Elizabeth (Holt
or Holzhouser or Holshouser), she was born in Mississippi around 1800.
Their children are thought to be: John C. Scroggs, Benjamin Holt Scroggs,
Elizabeth Scroggs, Mahalia Scroggs, and possibly Thomas Scroggs and Jane
Scroggs (the last 2 may have had a different mother).

I am trying to find information on Thomas McMullin. I have record that he
was married in Avoylles Parish on September 18, 1850 to Eliz Cottiham. I
would appreciate any information you have on him, especially that of his
father. Don't know father's first name. Mother's maiden name was Martha
Milton.

Does this name sound familliar to anyone. Sam was a long time resident
of Bay Hills Community which was(?) near Bunkie. He died December 14,
1940. He was a Methodist and a part time preacher and healer.

Does anyone know anything about John Furlow b 1805/06 in MS, was in
Avoyelles for 1840 census. Died there after the 1870 census. Married
Lydia Taylor in 1841 in East Feliciana. Buried in Cappel Family
Cemetery in Evergreen. Also would like to know where this cemetery is

Has anyone seen or heard of any Dielients any where. I can't find the
name on any listing. My grandmother was Irma Dielient her husband was
Edward Bordelon and they lived near Hessmer. We only know of one brother,
no name, but that's all.

Nicholas Lacour House: The home is recorded as the oldest known building left
in the Mississippi Valley. The home was built in Pointe Coupee Parish around

There is a little known manuscript which was published by the Mardi Gras
Press, Simmsport, Avoyelles, Louisiana, 1966, "To Avoyelles With The
Couvillons" by Ira. S. Couvillon.
There are 575 pages dedicated to the Genealogy of the Couvillon in Avoyelles
Parish, Louisiana. These pages trace the heraldty and the history of the
Quevillon fam
A big blank spot in my genealogy is my grandmother. Her maiden name was
Margaret Theresa O'Keefe. She married my grandfather Benjamin Clifton de
Generes in 1884, and I am not sure in which parish. They had a farm in the
Big Bend area on Bayou Des Glaises. They lived there until she died in
1907. She is listed on the 1900 Census for Avoyelles Parish, Ward 6, ED 10
or 18 sheet 7. That states she was born in La., and her parents were born
in Ireland. I don't know their names. They probably immigrated t
