I am researching the family of David P. FOSTER and Nancy C. WHITTEN.
David was a brother to John Foster
(who married Hannah Eaves)and the son of Asa Foster of Winston
County, MS. David and John immigrated to
Bienville Parish from Winston County, MS about 1881. Nancy died and
David remarried to Laura HILL in
1890. The family of David and Nancy:
David P. Foster family: born 1842 died 1911, buried Campground
Cemetery, Bienville, La. Married to (1st)
Nancy Whitten, (2nd) Laura E. Hill
There was a Green Spencer of Bienville Parish, LA that is not listed
with the others on your 1850 census below. Can someone look this up for
me and e-mail me the complete census information on this family?
Green Spencer, Bienville Parish pg. 277
Thanks.

Hi Mary Sue,
I need to clarify one thing: in the History of Bienville Parish Vol 2, it
mentions a Mary Diamond that married a Henry Mathews b. 20 Aug 1853, and
they had one daughter. It is mentioned that he remarried 2 other times, and
one of the children from his 3rd wife married a Wiggins.
Mary is the only Diamond mentioned in the book, none are mentioned in the
Liberty Hill - Brush Valley book, nor in the Bio and Historical Memoirs of
Bienville Parish. There isn't one in the 1850 census either.

Hello Mary Sue,
I have searched Vols.1, 2 and 3 of the Bienville Parish Cemetery Record Books
compiled by George Rogers Park. I find no surname of DIAMOND at all. There
are a great number of WIGGINS buried in Providence Cemetery. There are also 3
WIGGINS in Old Castor, 3 WIGGINS in Mill Creek, 2 WIGGINS in Old Ridge Church
Cemetery, 8 in Pleasant Grove, 16 in Springhill Baptist Church Cemetery; but,
none with the name of Mary Ann, Mary A, or M A.
Do you have anything to give you her birth date or age
Hello Listmembers,
Just a word of caution which I am sure all of you have heard before. Be sure
and go to the original document after information has been located on the
computer (or many other places for that matter). Our volunteers work
extremely hard to give us accurate information but it is not always absolute.
EXAMPLE: I have looked for a long time to try and find the first husband of
my grandmother Jordan. Well, I found their marriage on the net last week.
Married in Union County AR in 1895. WA
Hi Karen,
Do you have given names for your Spencers? That would probably help since
most of us do not have the time to devote to a total surname search.
Will be glad to help if I can.
There were no Spencers listed in the Parish Cemetary records below. Does
someone who has access to the Bienville Parish Cemetaries Book look up
and see if there were Spencers in any of the Cemetaries?

where she is buried? She was the first wife of HENRY DIAMOND and died
somewhere around early 1890's. They were long time residence of
Bienville Parish. She was my GGrandmother and I have not been able to
find any record of her death/burial place. Thanking you in advance...

Gritzbaugh@aol.com requests information on the ancestors and descendants of
A.D. (Archibald) Staples and his spouse. They were interred in the old
Castor, La.
Cemetery. He had a son named George who married Jimmie Ivey. Would also
appreciate information on the Ivey family.
Any
help appreciated. Thanks,

I am seeking the parents of Martha S. Mitchell(Fannie)born April 1863 in
Louisiana. She married Granville F. Wood 14 Nov.1877 in Bienville
Parish, LA. If you have any information, please e-mail me at

Hi Harry,
According to Eva Loe McDuffie in her book, "Liberty Hill - Brush Valley-
Friendship The Churches, The Schools, The Community and The People", Brush
Valley was located about 5 miles southeast of the Liberty Hill Baptist
Church, but it is not in exsistance anymore. Even the tombs in the cemetery
there have either been removed or have sunken into the graves.

To Mary Sue who is looking for Henry Diamond. I checked FTM File and there
are two Henry Diamonds listed on the 1870 census for LA. One in Orleans
Parish, New Orleans 10W and one in St. Martins Parish, Bayou Chene 1 W.
There is also a Henry Diamond in La 1860, but I do not have that
information. There is also a Diamond family living in Union Parish 1870
which is close to Bienville Parish.

Hello again Mary Sue,
You might want to go here
USGenWeb Archives
Search Page
, type in "Bienville Parish". Click LA. There are almost 300 entries for
the parish. You might find what you are looking for there. I am almost ready
to believe your DIAMOND's were located in another parish.
Good luck,
Doris

If anyone has a source of Land Records in Bienville Parish, could you
please check to see if Henry Diamond ever bought/sold land in Bienville.
I know that he was in that Parish during the 1880 census, but can't find
any record of him after that in LA...he had four children at the time of
the census...oh, only if we had the 1890 census...it sure would make
life simpler!!! He and his wife had several other children and it is my
understanding he lived most of his life in Bienville Parish.
I am still
