Hi folks,
Just had a request for this info so thought I would pass it along to
y'all.
The state of LA didn't require birth/death certs until 1918 (Orleans
Parish ONLY prior to that!). Birth certs over 100 yrs old and death
certs over 50 yrs old are housed in the LA State Archives, 3851 Essen
Lane, Baton Rouge, LA 70809-2137
This url is for the Archive's main Research Library....lots of wonderful
info here!

I see on my map where your land is located. However, there are not any
symbols for a cemetery feature nearby, nor could I find any mention of
a "Holmes" cemetery. This land is about two miles or so northeast of Lisbon

I've had a wonderful time reading and researching all the historical
information which you and others have put in the Louisiana archives. We
are preparing our family genealogy and you've probably noticed the Killgore
name, along with many other names of course. My husband is James Curtis
Kilgore of Aycock/Homer/Minden. He was raised on the "white lightening"
and is a decendant of the Charles Allen Killgore who built the plantation
house in Lisbon.

Have you ever heard of a Robert (I believe) Pair who lived in Claiborne Parish
prior to the Civil War? Supposedly, Pair shot two judge's sons and fled to
Texas in 1850s, where he changed his name to Alexander Jones. I have spoken
with Pair's great grandson who now lives in Texas. After finding a letter
written by a great aunt telling about the incident several months ago, he
called me at the newspaper looking for information, Since our newspaper didn't
go back that far, I had no information to give him, but

Hi,
I just joined the list today. I am looking for descendants of Mial Pair,

Her brother, Henry J. Pair, born about 1799 NC, recorded a land warrant in
Claiborne Co. in 1843.
Another brother, John D. Pair, born abt. 1812 NC or SC, also went to

Hi Listers,
You may have noticed that Rootsweb search engines are out of order.
However, the old search engines still work, so I have added that to both
of the Claiborne and Lincoln Parish archives pages. Please note that
these engines search ALL of the Louisiana Archives files. So you may
want to add "Claiborne" or "Lincoln" to your search words to try to get
only Claiborne or Lincoln Parish files.
Hope they get the engines fixed soon!!
