The new URL for researching surnames in obits is http://www.obitcentral.com

Please direct any responses to thillfam@3g.quik.com
I am searching for information on two families listed on the 1820
Concordia Parish Census --John Calhoun and John Kimble. I am
descended from Louisiana Calhoun through her son Joseph by Benjamin
F. Kimball. I believe that both of these lines were from
Concordia/Catahoula Parishes before they moved into Franklin Parish.
Any information on these families would be greatly appreciated.

Jan,
Thank you! Please go check out the parish site! Ellen Pack has been
doing it for about 4 years, I think. In that amount of time, she has
put a huge amount of information online. There is a section for
history.
Also, are you researching the Garland surname??? That happens to be one
of mine!

OK everyone, I need your help. I just became the Parish Coordinator for
Concordia with the USGenWeb Project. I have done some work on the web
site at http://www.rootsweb.com/~laconcor and need to know what you
think.
That was the easy part! Now I need you to tell me what kinds of
information you would like to see available on the web site. I have
some ideas for additions to the site, but it's gonna take a while to get
them into place.
Also, what changes would you like to see made?
At this point, I am
Hi Sandra
Congratulations on your new undertaking!
Forgive me for talking before I check on the contents of your site, but,
right off the top of my head, I'd say we need info on the early settlers
as well as any and all plantations that have existed in the parish,
whether they still stand or not.
Is there a history of the parish available? I'm new to the list (well, I
guess none of us have been here more than a couple months) and I don't
recall mention of any publications like that yet.
Thanks
Jan
