Hi Edwin!!
Really enjoyed reading your post to the list!!
Some notes: Some researchers, I have found, say that William Lacy was born
ca. 1755, in VA., married Elizabeth --unk--- and resided in Orange, Chatham,
and Montgomery Cos. in NC., and in Greenville Co.,SC, before moving to KY.
First land grant I find reference to in KY. dated 9 Jan. 1799.
Now, you say where are Elizabeth and William Lacy buried?
I have no proof at this time, but hope to research the idea more since you
brought it up.

Charla, I would like to thank you for taking the time and effort to post
your "old Lacy notes". I enjoyed seeing them and am sure that some can gain
some benefit from them and appreciation of the amount of work that it takes
to do original family research.

My father, an NJ Lacy, died last year at age 88 years. He had retinitis

remember is that this condition can be genetic but also triggered by the

generations back that could cause blindness because of no means to correct
them, that it is hard to lump it all together (i.e. congenital cataracts,

Hi,
I've only recently been added to the list. I'm looking for information
on Elizabeth Lacey who married Henry H. Malley in Jefferson Co., AL
October 14, 1829. I believe Henry's name is actually Henry H. Mallory.
He was known as Mallory in Tippah Co., MS. Elizabeth had three
children, Marietta Mallory who married Jackson Adam Pickens about 1849
probably Tippah Co., MS, Amanda Elizabeth Mallory who married John
Richard King in Tippah Co., MS and William Mallory. There are several

I found some spare Lacy's in the counties where my Jeptha D. Lacy (b.1769)
lived.
One is Clawson Lacy born 1800 in Morris Co., NJ, who was living in Sangamon
Co., IL by 1830.
The other two, Caleb and Joshua Lacy had land deeds (in the 1830's) in Monroe
Co., IL and at least Caleb later living in St.Clair, IL.
Lastly, are there any descendents of Jeptha D. Lacy on this list? These
appear to be at least some of his children:

George b. abt.1792
Susannah b.179
Betty,
If you check Elton's website, you'll find your Elizabeth Lacey is
the daughter of William Lacey son of General Edward Lacey.
I also have LACYs in the Jefferson County, AL area. However,
they did not arrive until about 1840.
Is anyone else researching L A C Y in the Jefferson, Madison,
or Lamar Counties in AL???

Jan, I have some jotted down notes that William Lacy's daughter Lucy
Ann/Anna Lacy married Elijah Jones in 1811. Then a son of theirs, Elijah
Franklin Jones, I believe, married Mary B. Henderson, 1852.
Could that be what you are interested in?

I am new to your website and was wandering if there was information and
web sites out there available for me to read - about the Lacey/Lacy

John Lacey married Mary Bolden (no dates available)
had three daughters all born in Hardin County, Illinois

I'm writing from memory about records which I haven't seen in quite a
while, but there is a little more to this story. William Lacy was one of
three sons of Philimon and Ann Durham Lacy. There may have been daughters
also. Several years ago I paid a researcher in North Carolina to
investigate this part of my lineage.
As far as I know, no one has ever

Hi Marian, Phyllis and any other "cousins" on this list I may have written to
over the years about our family.
I have some old notes written back in the 1950s concerning the Lacy family of
VA with TN and KY tie-ins. These notes mostly concern the Lacy and Sumpter
families. If anyone is interested, I'm willing to put them on the list and
hopefully some of us may be able to fill in some blanks in our research.
Someone asked about a family history a few days ago. I found this in my file
- Theophilus Lacy of
Catherine (Kitty) Lacy, b. abt. 1799, Fauquier Co. VA. m. 1820 to Elijah
Pritchard. By 1830 they were in Licking Co. OH. Elijah d. abt. 1840.
After that Kitty seems to disappear, but we think she went to Coshocton
Co. OH. where she had siblings, and where she prob. died. Maybe she
remarried.
Kitty was the d/o Thomas Lacy, Sr. We think her mother was named
Frances, surname unknown.
Would like any or all info. on this Lacy family.

Elton,
I am still researching the Lacey/Lacys of Carter (Washington)County,TN &
Northern Virginia, mainly Frederick & Shenandoah Countys. My ancestor, John
Lacey came from there. In summary, John & Anna Lacey & children arrived in
Eastern TN ca 1788-9. John Lacey gave Col. John Tipton a power of attorney
ca 1789 in Washington County, TN. Their children born in Virginia were:
Phebe, Ann, Joseph, Thomas & John. Those born in TN were: Abraham (my
gggrandfather), Reuben, Isaac & Jacob. I have always thought tha
Elton,
My Lacy connection is through Martha Lacy, daughter of Luke and
granddaughter of "Squire" Benjamin Lacy, early 1800's. Martha married
Thompson Jones. I know Martha's birthdate, 5 Oct 1815, but not her date of
death. From court records, Thompson abandoned his children in or around
August 1850, yet Martha was listed in the census for that year. Not sure if
she was still in the picture in August, when the court awarded custody of
the children to Martha's sister Jane Carpenter.

I have some data on this family from the time they were in Hopkins County,
KY. However, it will take a little time for me to dig it out, because
while I followed this family for a while, it turned out not to be my line,
and so I haven't looked at the information in many years.
The problem was that there were two or three William W. Lacy's born in
Hopkins County within a 10-year period, 1845 - 1855. The
Diane, perhaps someday genetic makeup will become an affordable genealogical
research tool....as the term genealogy tends to imply. The implications of
that are interesting to think about. I don't know if there is any blindness
in other branches of the CT Lacy family. It is an affliction that may have a
source other than the Lacys. My Lacy line is from Henry, son of Edward Sr.
and wife Sarah who went to NJ in the Morris Co., Essex Co. areas.
