1. [LADD-L] Various & Sundry GA LADDs [1]
Sam & Y'All Here are various and sundry mentions of LADD in the records of Georgia. While I have seen & maybe posted parts of this before, most is new information to me and I am not sure of where any of them fit. - - - - - - -(S N I P)- - - - - - - Families of Hall County Georgia In July of 1958, (Mrs. John W.) 4. [LADD-L] Amos & Anna Stone LADD while in Marion Co. [1]
Y'All - For some time I have wondered why the listing of Marion Co., TN's first settlers listed GWT LADD b. 1808 as nestled inn the cozy arms of LADD's Cove in 1820 and not his father, Amos. It then hit me that the list was not from land records, but, most likely, from the knowledge of someone's memory. http://www.rootsweb.com/~tnmarion/settlers.htm First Settlers of Marion County, Tennessee 1820 Washington Ladd - Ladd Cove In data, which I assume was taken from a deed book, we have: http://www.r

6. [LADD-L] Elvira LADD of Wayne Co., TN [1]
Y'All - Photo of CSA soldier found at: http://www.rootsweb.com/~tnwayne/friends/csbowden.htm With this caption: "C. S. Bowden Lt. 19th (Biffle's) TN Cavalry, CSA C. S. Bowden was the son of Charles W. Bowden and Elvira Ladd." This is a Wayne County, TN site. Wayne County is located on the state line with NW Alabama. It is hard to tell the age of our C. S. Bowden - 25 to 35? So, Elvira LADD could have been born ca. 1790-1810. Does anyone know of this Elvira that set Charles Bowden's heart on fire-a?

Well, those of you who are interested in this line, make a note somewhere... I wrote to the Habersham County Courthouse, Office of Probate Court, P.O. Box 625, Clarkesville GA 30523 and asked for any probate packages and/or wills for Amos Ladd who died between 1827 and 1830 in Georgia and Mary Ann Ladd who died between 1832 and 1840. The answer was, "I could not find anything on the names mentioned above. Sorry I couldn't find anything. Thanks, Beth." Now what? If Amos and Mary Ann received land in the

Also, I believe there was a newspaper published in Frederisksburg called The Virginia Star - thus, "vs.fp5" is a summary of items in that publication. For what publications the other codes are - I do not know. There might be some hitherto unknown information her
14. Re: [LADD-L] Amos Ladd who died in Georgia [1]
Janet, That's great info on both Elizabeth and Patsey Ladd. I really appreciate all the digging you did. I agree with you that it's Patsey and her children on the 1820 Census with Amos and Mary Ann Carmichael Ladd. I'll do some looking for Patsey and her family. Seems like the most likely place for Mary Ann to be in 1830. Thanks again, Sam ----- Original Message ----- From: "Newell Family" To: Sent: Saturday, August 03, 2002 2:43 AM Subject: Re: [LADD-L] A

This will be of most interest to Charles who is looking for the maiden name of Hester Ladd, wife of Joseph, and Sam maybe, but I thought perhaps I'd post it here just in case someone else wants to be confused. Hey Charles, Here's something else to think about. Cornelius Keith Jr. who is in the 1800 Pendleton Co. SC census, moved from Surry Co. NC about 1795 with the rest of the families. Asa Keith who married Elizabeth Ladd (daughter of Amos and Mary Ann Carmichael Ladd) is his brother. In 1820 Sotherl
19. [LADD-L] John and Martha Ladd Sutherland in GA [1]
Janet, Jim, and all: After Janet found the Sutherlands in Greene Co., GA in 1820, I started going through the Greene Co. Census data. I found them there in 1830 listed as John S(ou)therland, but Mary Ann Carmichael Ladd, Martha "Patsey's" mother, was not with them. By 1830, one of their daughters had married, before she was yet 16, or she died. Also, they had two more sons. Here's the Census data: 002101-002101. It can be seen on Ancestry.com, Greene Co., GA, image 1. I couldn't find them in 1840. I

Janet, Thanks for writing Habersham County for records on Amos or Mary Ann Ladd. I just got back from a trip to FL and NC. On the drive from FL to NC, I found myself passing through Habersham County, GA. I didn't expect that, so I couldn't resist stopping by the Courthouse, even though time was limited. I found that they wouldn't have any wills from about 1830 since the Courthouse was burned during the Civil War and all records were lost. Their records start around 1870. They may have existed at one
