My Birth Mother was married to an Ashmore Man when I was born in 1954- at that time she was divorcing this man. He was not my Birth Father. I an

HI! According to the Baton Rouge City Directory there is a Florence A. (Delta) Ashmore that is living in EBR in 1953 Machine Operator and she is there in 1954 as a waitress at the Hotel Burin, 5062 Scenic Hwy. She is gone in 1955.
All the Ashmore's in Baton Rouge remain there in the years after 1955. I don't know if

Hi Bette, Have you had anyone reply for your civil war death in LA? I also had a family member die in the Battle of Plain Store May 21 1863. I don't know if he is buried in Louisiana and neither does the government.
Do you know of any Civil War cemeteries or contacts there?
Ellen
That sounds like it would work. However, one of my relatives was killed
just east of Port Hudson and he was buried in the town cemetery. His father
later dug up his body and brought it back home to be reburied. The town of Port
Hudson is just off US61, just south of the Port Hudson Site. Good Luck!

Try the cemetery at Port Hudson, just north of Baton Rouge. It should be on
the internet. This is the site of the longest siege in the history of the
U.S. Army.

Kdberr1@aol.com,
I would be very interested in any information you
discover about Zachariah Brown and his family of EBR
Parish.

Maybe this will help. 1- the Battle of Plains Store took place about three
miles from the battle of Port Hudson. Stands to reason that the dead would all
be buried at Port Hudson. 2- Maybe the Museum at Port Hudson, right next to
Port Hudson National Cemetery, would have the information you are looking for. I
do not have an e-mail address for them but here is the phone number
225-654-3775. They are very helpful folks. Also, here is the phone number for the
cemetery office 225-654-3767. Hope it helps.
Sure do! It is fine.
