His grandmother was - Nettie Annie Dixon who married Stewart Wylie / Wiley in Franklin Parish.

In our family we have an oral history that goes like this: "Great Grand Father Ferren" lived in Louisiana -- brought his two sons to Little Rock, Arkansas when they were 12 and 8. He fought in the Civil War -- got killed and was buried there in (Arkansas). The oldest brother went back to Louisiana, and the younger (Stephen) boy stayed in Arkansas".
