Hi Deborah
I had a John Lamberth in Tallapoosa Co Al. He was born in Ga 1833 per 1860,70&

census. His father was James Edward Lamberth and mother Cynthia Caroline
Fincher per information left by my aunt. I've been looking for him for 35
years. My #1 suspect is William(1756) Lambert's son James by his 1st
wife(name unknown). There's several James during this time period and I'm
trying to find out more about each. My John also had a brother name James.
Please tell me more about your James & John.

Hi! This is the listowner of this LAMBERT list. When I started it a
few years ago, it was the only one for Lambert (or Lambeth). My g-
grandpa used both spellings, though we've all settled into Lambert
now. So--this is the LAMBERT list, but any similar surname is
welcome, just in case!

Hi Becky,
Interesting that your g-grandpa used both spellings. According to my cousin,
Diana (LAMBERT) Boyer: "I was told in my childhood that our last name was
changed from Lambeth to Lambert. This much I knew. It is not a
misspelling--they decided to change it. The story goes that there was a
family of Lambeth(s) who were getting themselves in trouble with the law or
whatever and our family chose to distance ourselves from them."
Then there was great uncle George who remained in England after the r
I thought that was a very silly reply to you earlier. I am expecting to
locate my LAMBERT ancestors on this list. Maybe the reply was in jest or
the writer was drunk. :) Usually these type of lists will include various
spellings, but this one is definitely Lambert as the main spelling.

Hi Diane,
Coincidence maybe...
My earliest (I have lots of Williams) William LAMBERT was born in Ripon,
YORKSHIRE in 1922. He was the son of John LAMBERT and Margaret ATKINSON.
Will married Catherine Archibald in 1845. Catherine was a native of Nova
Scotia (Halifax area). I have Will's military career (Quartermaster, fought
in Crimean War) and lots on Catherine's family in Nova Scotia. Also have
info on their kids, including a son George who did not migrate to New
Zealand with the rest of the family af
I am searching for the parents and siblings of George William Lambert b.
1854. who lived near Iuka, Mississippi. His wife was Mary Jane Cook, b.
1856. They were the parents of John William, Marshall, Oscar, Ed, George,
Kenny, Maggie, Molly, and Sarah Jane.
I joined this list some time ago searching for the following people.
If anyone has LAMBERT connections in the UK, I would be pleased to hear from
them.
Walter Edward LAMBERT
his son of exactly the same name, i.e. Walter Edward LAMBERT.
The son married Louisa Ann PHILLIPS in Essex, UK, 1938
They had a daughter Margaret Ann LAMBERT born in Ilford, Essex, UK 1942
Love to hear from anyone who recognises these names.
There is a faint chance that Louisa may have emigrated out of the UK
Kind regards from beau
Diane, I have a George Lambert b.1715 in Germany.

Hello Joan:
During your UK research, if you come across LAMBERTs in northern
Nottinghamshire, or in Hythe, Kent, please let me know.
I have some LAMBERT ancestors who were in "domestic service". Frank
LAMBERT (b. about 1809 in Ireland) was a "gentleman's servant" and
"coachman". His daughter Sarah LAMBERT (b. about 1852) was a "housemaid"
for the Duke of Portland at Welbeck Abbey near Worksop, Notts.
Sarah met her husband to be while working at Welbeck Abbey in 1871. The
following year she marri
Thanks for speaking to the comments that have been in the list recently. I
have submitted requests on my Lamberth surname and have received some snippy
replies (not to the list, but personally). Seems a little more tolerance is
necessary on everyone's part!! Thanks.

I know its along shot but I have just found the marriage between my George DUNN and Jane LAMBERT was in 1831 at Collerton, Northumberland. By 1840 they were living at Knowsley north of Liverpool, Lancs.
Does anyone have any Lamberts from this part of the UK?

My branch of the family changed it to Lamberth, in Floyd and Walton Counties
Georgia.

I agree, SueBee.. don't know what the other writer was on when they wrote that Lambeth reply.. This is a Lambert list, that deals also with variations of the name when needed!
