1. [LAN] Hoping for a Census look up [1]
If anyone has the 1851, 1861 or 1871 census for the area, I'd be so grateful for a lookup of this address and to know who was living there. 17 Dickenson Rd Rusholme Fingers crossed to break through a Roberts brick wall. Cheers! Akua from a sunny Vancouver Island morning
2. RE: [LAN] Are Thomas and Emily twins? [1]
Hello, Dot and list I agree that concurrent baptisms need not mean twins. I have a case (in Shropshire) where a girl and a boy were baptised together (November 1854), but I have a birth certificate for the girl showing she was born in May 1853. Since it seems very unlikely that a twin would have "escaped" registration in 1853, I suspect that the family simply did not get around to having the girl baptised until over a year later, when her brother came along! To confuse the picture further, his birth does n

7. [LAN] Sanitarium - Darwen Moors [1]
Dear List, My mother was admitted to a sanitarium on Darwen Moors for the treatment of pneumonia and pleurisy sometime between 1943-1945. Does anyone know the name of the sanitarium that was in existance then and where would the records be now? Thanks for all the great websites that have been posted here. I have visited them all and learned a great deal. Best regards, Glenda. _________________________________________________________________ MSN 8 helps eliminate e-mail viruses. Get 2 months FREE*. h

9. [LAN] When did women 'get to keep as their own' inherited property. [1]
Hello everyone, Yes, Mary Lou was right. I did really mean 'when did women in Lancashire "get to keep as their own" their inherited property? Can anyone clear this up for me? I'm thinking in particular of a farm that's name changed from the surname of the daughter to the surname of the son -in- law. This happened either late in the 17th cent, or very early in the 18th century. Sorry that I didn't reply to the list immediately. I've been in bed with a rather heavy head cold over the weekend. 14. [LAN] More Requests now [1]
Hi List, I can take more requests now. I am all caught up. To save everyone time and make it easy, please, if you have found your family on the 1881 Familysearch census, could you copy and paste that index to the message request? I have found that it makes it very easy. Ancestry does not use street addresses so that will not help me at all. Place of birth, ages, names of spouse and children and their ages and where born are all pluses in making the search easy for everyone. Sue macduff@infionline.ne

19. 1901 census indexing (was RE: [LAN] Names ,) [1]
I am not surprised that the prisoners' rate of accuracy was appalling - if they weren't impulsive and error prone they wouldn't be in the situation they are! That's not counting a certain psychopathic mischief - in the occupations column substituting 'screw' for 'prison officer/warder' and 'pig' for policeman are just some examples I have heard. best wishes, Moira Christchurch Dorset DESPERATELY searching for PLANTON or PLANTAIN in Liverpool and environs pre 1851 Liverpool & SW Lancs FHS 5778 > -----Ori

Hi Debbie, I have the Yorkshire census on DVD (which will have the same images as per the S&N CD version) and the image is pretty clear and in the main readable (apart from where the enumerator crossed diagonally through the age and part of the occupations out when he was counting the entries on the page - this is consistent throughout this census in various areas!) Details are: RG12/3543 Folio 86 Page 5 Schedule 39 Hepton (Grove?) James ROWSON Head Widr 54 Fustian Dyer Yorkshire, Heptonst
