6. [LAN] Confederate Officer Etc [0.969722]
If anyone is interested and wants to contact me, I'll send a transcription from a VERY old school history book I have (grandad pinched it, I think, from school!) which has a chapter about the American Civil War and the resultant cotton famine in Lancashire. The book is so old that it isn't politically correct, of course, but it was written in around 1880 so gives a fascinating glimpse into Lancashire at that time. A Williams Rintintin4141@aol.com
7. RE: [LAN] Christian EASTER [0.969722]
I find names like this often - they're so odd that I spend ages making sure that I'm reading them correctly. I have a Pleasant, Temper, Christmas (went by Christ, no kidding), Love, Cupid, Deli, Lime (went by Limey), Green, Green Lime, Angry, Citrus, New, Old, Saskwatch (went by Sassy) and a handful of others that just threw me off entirely. When I found all the references to Greeny, Limey and Citrus I thought I'd stumbled on some lime farmers - logical, yes? No. Bankers. The weirdest part about it is

Hi, That is the BIG R where you pay to record the names you are looking for. You can then write to people who are doing research on the same name same place. I am on it as I did not have a computer in 1999. It is not a place to look for your ancestors. More like their descendants. Joan

21. Re: [LAN] NON GEN - 11 November [0.969722]
Amen to that Ian. I really find it bewildering that so many people feel as we do about the futility of war, that it still happens - and quite often in the name of God/Allah whatever. I sometimes think that He must be up there shaking his head at what we do with the freedom of choice He gave to us..
