Have noted quite a lot of LARAPIDE traffic lately about the 1850

Floreda,
Would you mind checking your Rapides Parish info for the Robert, Rutledge, and
Grimball families? I can give you particulars if you find the surnames, but
I'm not sure whether they were still there by 1850...
thanks a lot!

Ed,
Do you work for a bank in Alexandria?

Hi Betty,
Information from Dr. G.M.G. Stafford's book on the Wells Family and Baptisms
of St. Paul's Catholic Church in Mansura, both show Alexander FULTON married
Mary Henrietta WELLS. Following FULTON's death, his widow remarried to Thomas
HOOPER, who was a widower of his first wife, Alce DRENNAN, whom he had married
in Amite Co., MS 11 May 1809. Marriage Index of Early MS Marriages.
Sorry, I have immediately available information on Celeste LAYSSARD.

Floreda,
My wife and I graduated from BHS in 1953. Miss Lewis was one of my English
teachers, probably about 9th grade.
At present, we are preparing for a 45th year class reunion in April and are
attempting to locate living faculty members from 1952-53. If you should get
any info on Miss Lewis, either alive or deceased, please let us know.
Thanks, Lynn Bagley & Bill King (Bolton - Class of '53)

I am seeking information related to my great grandfather, Lanie Orlando
Clinton (b. 10 Mar 1880, d. 27 Apr 1953). He lived in Pineville, was a
Sherrif, worked in railroad security, and married Miss Edna Earle Matthews,
who taught school in Rapides Pr for many years. He had a brother, Walter Mac
Clinton, and his (and Walter's) parents were Nancy Jane Kent and John
Clinton. I would love to hear from anyone who has anything that might
relate, or anything interesting.

Hi:
Normally legitimate means exactly that, legitimate child of 2 married parents.
A natural child means either an illigitmate child or in the case of a
remarried parent, it would designate, which parent the child was born to.

I have seen several messages regarding the hospital in Pineville. One of
the interesting things going on now is that there is a graveyard there that
has many graves (can't remember - something like 2000 to 3000), and they
are in the process of setting up a memorial that will have the names and
year dates of birth and death of all those burried there. This has not
been an easy process since it was a mental hospital, but they have the
permission now from the state to do it as long as they do not mention the

Hello, I'm new to this list. Wondering if someone can help me find where my
great grandfather, Charles Pemberton Peyton is buried. He was a farmer, died
November 1860, age 40, in Rapides Parish. This info was found in "Index of
La. - 1860 Mortality Schedule -- Archer."
I'm wondering if there is a tomb stone or some sort of marker in one of the
cemeteries in Rapides, possibly in the Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Pineville?
Would appreciate any small clue that could be furnished.
