Historic Latta Plantation, located 12 miles outside Charlotte, NC, has just opened a new WWW site. Its URL is HTTP//WWW.LATTAPLANTATION.ORG.
It isn't sophisticated yet, but it will get there eventually. I'm the webmaster, the designer, the photographer, the go-fer, etc.
(I also conduct tours at the Plantation every Sunday.) I am
learning as I go. I hope to have a clickable map out there and let folks that cannot visit the plantation in person visit it through the Web.
I do have a lot more material t
I observed the same thing about the John in generation #1 in note 1, doesn't
quite fit, I'm waiting for info from Sue Latta Panter and hope she has
something to help figure this out, the info in note 1 was submitted by her.

Tyler County, WV has record of the following:
John Ladie b. 4/27/1853 - father, John Ladie
George W. Ladie, b. 3/25/1855, father - John Ladie; died 4/12/1886 of
pneumonia, parents John and Mary "Lady"
Could these be the children of John Copeland Latta (branch 17) and Mary Jane
Morris?
John Copeland Latta had a brother named George Madison Latta, maybe the George
W. was named after him????

Hiya all,
Looking to share info with anyone researching Branch 4. I do believe my
family belongs to this branch. In branch 4 Charles Edward Latta had a son
that was named Roy Latta. I think maybe he's my Ggrandfather for his name
was Roy Latta who married a Myrtle Abell. Their son Leigh Roy Latta married
Norma Blanche Yaudes. If this looks familiar to anyone, I'd appreciate the
help. Thank you!
Thanks,

My information on Polly Reed Ford indicates that she may have had a middle
name of Mary. I'm not sure of the original source of the listing, but I have
found her listed as Polly (Mary) Reed Ford. If Mary was her middle name, then
Reed could very well be a maiden name, but I have no proof of it.

Thanks. By the way did you get an email address for James G. McClure when he
subscribed to the Latta ...Newletter. he is my first cousin, daughter of
Mankie Latta McClure, who is the granddaughter of James Eudorus, Branch 9. I
included him in the update to that branch I sent you.
For those who are "new" here is some background:
George Latta of Oakfield NY (george@latta.org) and Marquita Latta of
Hampton VA (marquita@latta.org) have been researching the family's
origins for some time and had done a lot of collaborating via e-mail
when Paul Calhoun of Port Clinton OH (paul@latta.org) began to
correspond with them around 1994.
We had all been aware of Robert H. Latta's pioneering work housed in the
Library of Congress and lamented the fact that it was not more readily

On 7/17/98 you wrote asking about a Catherine Latta.
Branch 17's John Latta II had a daughter, Katherine. He was born in PA, his
son, George Madison Latta, was born in Huntingdon, PA on 4/4/1822. Katherine
supposedly married a George Morris and in 1898 lived in Kansas. (Maybe this
was her second marriage?) Where did you get your information?
Also in the 1850 Monroe Co., OH Census it listed Katherine spelled
"Catherine".

Hello Paul,
I am fairly new to the interaction of genealogy search in the LATTA family
(branch #1--my family number is 412). Am I the only one that becomes terribly
confused when two or three queries get between a question and a possibly
related answer? I can follow logically if a snippit of the original query is
included in the answer but otherwise I am not sure who someone is talking
about when a letter begins with, "I believe you are correct", or "I think we
may both have the same John (or James or who
Angeluss states, regarding the abbreviation on a census record, "I don't know
what BO stands for."
In my listing of those abbreviations it states that "Bo" stands for "boarder"
or someone paying to live in someone else's household.

It seems the Latta family is inextricably intertwined with the Ferrells.
I'm sure about Wm. Latta, married Martha Warden (br. 41)in Stark Co.,
Ohio. Martha's niece, Sarah Ellen Warden married Lorin Ferrell. I'm
wondering if anyone can help me with the following: Which Clara Ferrell
did Albert Francis Latta (br. 30) marry? Which George W. Ferrell d

Dear Paul: It's early a.m. and I'm not thinking straight. I looked at my old
Latta newsletters and I have "Issue" 2, 3, 4, 5, 6...nothing marked "Volume".
Are Volume and Issue the same thing? If so, I do not have Issue 1.
Hi,
How many Orange Co., NC Latta researchers are out there? I'm one! I would
like to suggest that we (collectively) try a comparison of the Latta
branches based out of Orange Co., NC for comparative information.
A few facts:
1. Only two Lattas are recorded in Orange Co. prior to 1780: James and
John.
2. After 1780, James Jr., John Jr. and Thomas appear in land transactions.
3. A will for John Sr. cites the names of four sons and the spouses of
four daughters in 1823.
4. There are numerous land tran
