MRS. S. J. HARPER SUCCUMBS AFTER LONG ILLNESS
Mrs. Clarenda Josephine Schumaker Harper, 89, widow of the late Senator
S. J. Harper, passed away June 27 at her home on Center Street,
Winnfield, after many years of illness.
Funeral services were conducted at the Hixon Brothers Chapel at 10 a.m.,
June 28, with Dr. W. L. Holcomb and Rev. J. L. Holt officiating. Burial
was in the Winnfield cemetery under direction of Hixon Funeral Home.

There will be a Masonic procession held over Mr. J. R. Sykes (Sikes)
deceased, on Sunday July 19, by Brooklyn (Brookline) Lodge. Eastern
Star Lodge No. 151 is invited to participate. The procession will be
held at Old Fellowship church, in Winn Parish, abouit 5 miles from Gaars
Mill.
(Brookline Lodge No. 198 Free and Accepted Masons, was organized near
Hood's Mill, Jackson Parish, LA., in 1869 and chartered Feb. 16, 1870.

I have been asked about sending photos to put up on the family page on the
Winn Parish Web page site (Oh? You didn't know there was a photo on the
family page link? YOU DIDN"T KNOW I HAD REDONE A BUNCH OF STUFF LAST WEEK
END!!!! Well... how long has it been since you check?)

All descendants of William James "the Old Sailor" TEDDLIE are invited to the
1st National TEDDLIE Family Reunion to be held on August 1, 1998 in Winnfield,
LA. The name has, on occasion, been spelled TEDLEY, TEDLIE, TEDDLEE, and
TEDDLEY. The "old sailor's" ten surviving children moved from Georgia to Winn
Parish in the 1850s and commenced to populate Winn Parish with a couple of the

The Winn Genealogical and Historical Association held its regular
meeting on Saturday, Feb. 14, 1998 at the library in Winnfield, La. The
meeting was called to order by Jo Branch, 1st Vice President at 1:00pm.
Our president, Annette Womack, was out with the flu as was Gregg Davies,
3rd Vice President. WE REALLY MISSED THESE GUYS AND HOPE THEY GET WELL
SOON!!
The reading of the minutes from the Jan. 10, 1998 meeting was waived. A
