I have info of a James M. Walker born about 1834, died Aug. 12, 1862. He married a Samantha Jane Durbin born abt. 1835 in Winn Parish area. She had a John Walker born 1858 and a Susanne Walker born 1860. James might have died in the Civil War. She later married a John W. Elkins and had two children on my list.
Approx. 10,000 military personnel were here during that time on maneuvers.
A film documentary was just released about it and they're available at the
Winn Parish museum.
