Thanks to all of you who have responded to my inquiry about Stokley Lawson.
I will respond to you when I have sorted through the material. Thanks, and
keep the NC/TN/VA and points west/north Lawson information on the Net.
We'll match up all of these people some day.

Don't give up on me I am still working on stuff. I got sidetracked. I did
look at some church records in Hawkins Co. Tn. site and most of the Lawsons
got kicked out. Go look. Pat

Hello, Lawson researchers. I'm a new subscriber looking for information
on Joseph LAWSON and Mahala Angeline CORDELL Ross Lawson Annett Johnston
(daughter of Sampson CORDELL and Nancy Jane PATON). They lived and owned
property in Jasper Co MO, 1907; were likely married there or vicinity in
mid-1880s; he died there sometime before 12/1914. She was born in 1865,
so likely he was born earlier, possibly IN. Any help would be greatly
appreciated.

I am searching for ancestors of WILLIAM STOKLEY LAWSON

Parents of William Stokley Lawson are said to be
Moremon Lawson, b. 1751 in Bedford Co. VA or perhaps
David Lawson and Mary Hickam. I have seen no proof either way.
Does anyone have information about the marriageS and
children of Moremon? One wife was Elva Collins, m. ca 1803.
Moremon lived in VA, NC, TN, VA and was in the Rev. War from VA and NC.

Dear Jeannine,
I also forgot to say in my reply that I live in Henry County, went to
school in Johnson County and was born in Bates County. It is very likely that
Eliza was Matilda's sister. She named one of her children Eliza probably
after her aunt...names tend to carry in this family...

What has happened to the genealogical etiquette that has been around for
years and years in regard to posting to the entire world the birth date of
a living person without the permission of that individual?
Have the rules changed?

I have a reference that Robert Lawson married Susannah Allen on 8 Oct 1835
at Micheldever, Hampshire. Elizabeth Lawson was a witness but I am not sure
what relationship she is.
There is no trace in the St. Catherine's Index of births for Susan Margaret
Lawson or William Allen Lawson although there is one in the latter name in
2nd quarter of 1849 at Kensington London. However I am sure this is a
different family.
I would be grateful for fuller details of your Lawson family so that I can

I have two or three Georges listed in various places in the family trees of my

All the references I gave you are contained within the IGI which I am able
to search with any combination of fields so that often I am able to pick
out entries which might otherwise have been missed. Whilst these do need
corroboration from actual source material they are often very good in
pointing you in the right direction.

Hi,
My records show Bartlett Belcher married Aelsey Lawson 16 Sept 1800 in
Patrick Co VA.
Bartlett was in the Rev War and I have his birth listed as 1763. There was
some discussion about him a few months ago when the Dickey Diary was being
printed. I'll check to see if I still have that informtion.
Someone who was researching Ae(i)lsey wondered if she might be a sister or a
daughter to Moremon Lawson, who was born in Bedford Co. in 1751.
And, there is an Alsey Lawson who married a Rogers. This Alsey is
Hi Gang,
Hey, I found some Lawsons on an online 1830 Lee County
Federal census. Don't know how accurate they are.
Here they are:
Lawson, David
Lawson, Dier
Lawson, Hutson
Lawson, John
Lawson, Moman
Lawson, Rial
Lawson, Stokley
Lawson, Thomas
Lawson, Wine
I wrote the names exactly as they were on the census.
Think it could be Morman and Hudson..with an accent?
My line is William Jasper s/o Hudson Lawson and Rachel

& Eva Collins yet, but think he w

in West Virginia. She married Basil Lawson. I Know they had to live in West
Virginia at one time because thats where my mother was born. I only remember
them living in Pikeville Ky. In 1970s they mov

This was the very point I was trying to make. There are many mistakes in
entries contained within the IGI and hence my caution and need for
corroborating the data with the actual source first.

Just an added note. I have been researching Sarah Ann Lawson for several
years. She is the sister of Matilda Elizabeth. Both are the daughters of
Greenburry and Lavinia Jane (Carter) Lawson. If you have any information on
Lavinia, mother of Matilda and Sarah, please contact me. I have been unable
to research her Carter line any farther. Joan D'Andrea (Lawson)
