Have a copy of a John Lawson's Rev. War records from Nat'l Archives which
lists a daughter, Malinda.
Am interested in furthering the line of JESSE & WILEY LAWSON, who lived in
White and Overton Counties, Tennessee. Can anyone help me, please? Thanks.

Hi Mr. Gordon,
Someone suggested that I contact you re: my search for information on
my wife's family history. Her folks lived in Gordonville for many
years. Basically, it's an African American lineage with patriarchs
Rev. John C. Lawson and his wife Zeola Bradley Lawson. Zeola was the
son of a white man named Ben Bradley. Anyhow, here is what I know of
the family to date....
Redic LAWSON (b.11/17/1864; d.bef 1950) married
a woman named Josephine Johnson on Nov 28, 1926
in Gordonsville, AL.
I have these people in brief:
John Lawson of Scotland moved to Northern Ireland and had a son named John.
This John died February 16,1775.
This John had two sons, Andrew, Anthony born around 1744 and after. I
descend through Andrew who had three sons, born in Ireland, but migrated to
Sevier County, TN late 1700's. These three sons were Anthony, Andrew and
Robert. Robert moved to Alabama and settled. Andrew and Anthony stayed in
Sevierville, Sevier County, TN where the Lawson family had deep
roots(Pig

Do any of your John Lawson connections show a marriage to Frances
Lawson....the couple producing a child Elizabeth Lawson b. 29 Sept 1733? She
reportedly married John Law 14 Nov 1748. I have record of only Jesse Law as
a child of this marriage. Would like to develop more complete info on these
families.
I am looking for information on(or descendents of) my gg grandparents Efram
A. Lawson(also listed as E.A.) and Matilda Barrett. Efram was born in
Pickens County, South Carolina. He married Matilda in early 1865 while
still a confederate soldier. After the war, he moved to Georgia. I don't
know if Matilda was from Georgia when they married or if she moved too.
Efram and Matilda had six children:
James William b. 1866
Mary Etta
Annie Eveline b. 1873
Jacob Madison (my g grandfather)

About 1874, William Wesley Lawson left Stokes Co. N.C. under mysterious
circumstances. He left his wife Letitia Simmons Nelson Lawson, his three
children James Davis, William T., and Sisely Ellender, and five Nelson
stepchildren. Supposedly he moved to California and was never heard from
by his family again. Does anyone out there have any data...1880
California Census, 1890 California Census, tax lists etc. that might help
me find William Wesley? Don Simmons
Jean,
I am Sue Morse Wilson, my grandmother was Mattie Olivia Lawson of
Hattisburg, MS. Who is this Margy Miles and her e-mail address? She may
be my link. My Lawson's ended up in Mississippi. They came through
Alabama, as I am told!
Thank you in advance!!!!

There is another John Lawson,b.15 March 1807 in Woodcroft, Northumberland,
England, d.9 March1844 in Logan,West Virginia. He married Emily Butcher 29
August 1833.
Not every Lawson came from John Lawson of Scotland. My Lawson ancestor came
from Montrose, Scotland, but his name was William. Transported to Maryland
as an indentured servant. Ran away and went to North Carolina first and then
into Scott Co., VA.

I believe you might have some success checking either Franklin or Halifax or
Pittsylvania Co. VA. It has been a couple of years but this seems to ring a
bell and overlap with the Law and Willis families of that era.
I am interested in Burrell Lawson that was listed in the 1800 Stokes Co,
N.C. census. Was he the same Burrell Lawson that was listed in the 1830
Hawkins Co, Tn census. Any help appreciated.

I agree that there must have been a lot of John Lawson that came to this

Hi Armand,
I don't know if ours connect, or how if they do, but I have a branch which
started with a John Lawson in Scotland, then migrated to Northern Ireland,
then to Sevier County, TN.
If you are interested, I can send you a GEDCOM of my Lawsons. Or, if you
want it in an e-mail, I can copy and past, rather than sending a file.

Hi Janet,
Thanks for your Lawsons. That branch is different from mine. I have heard
of it before. Do you know if you connect with Margy
Miles<4miles@IS.USMO.COM>? She had Lawsons from KY.
Ours are recorded as in Sevierville, Sevier County, TN and a branch
migrating to Alabama and one to AR>MO

Gordonsville is located about 30 miles outside of Montgomery. It is
between Montgomery and Selma, AL.
