Hello everybody,

looking for a few lost sisters who married into the Foster surname sometime
during the 1800-1830s in the 96 district. Their parents were Nicholas and
Susanna Elizabeth (Merck) Briskey. They probably lived in the city of
Edgefield but possibly could have lived in
Abbeville.
Their names were.....
1. Polly (Perry) (Briskey) Foster
2. Margaret "Peggy" (Briskey) Foster
3. Katy (Briskey) Foster

According to 1785 church minutes, my G-G-G-G-G Grandfather, ENOCH DODSON,

Does anyone have cemetery information for the church and or know if it has
been published? I have Enoch's date of death as 12 April 1816 in Abbeville
Co. and presume he probably is buried at this church, but I have no date of
death for his wife, ELIZABETH. Anyone know what her maiden name is?

Samuel might have had more children. Possibly a son named Robert of

Dollyie,
Thanks for your interest. We hope to have a website someday. What I
really need is a volunteer web-techie type who would like to design and
maintain such a site. This is beyond my technical ability. I would be

Just wanted to tell Robert Hemphill & Jan Morrow that I have not forgotten
the Hopewell material that Robert sent to me.. Jan will get it to you soon..
I had not recovered from vacation then I burned myself pretty badly with

Way back yonder when i was stupid and had to attend USC summer skool in order
to keep my 4.0 GPA, the dorms were not airconditioned, so in order to survive,
i walked over one block to the SC Archives where the summer temp was a
constant 65 degrees since old Mr. A. S. Salley was a bit plump like me, and he
was the director, and he stood there rattlin' off the FOUR ORIGINAL COUNTIES
of the 96 District like water off a ducks back. I will grant you that I have
read some other stuff by the Johnny-come-latelies
I couldn't find these in my records.. but Wilson/Lesley are sure "Long Cane"

Mr. Tucker, forgive me for not reading your note first, You give excellent
info. I will have to contemplate this a day or two.
The Samuel Foster I am looking for was born ca. 1750 or earlier and MUST

Why is Samuel Lesley [Leslie] not on Rev. Porter's list of
burials??????????????
He should be. Does this mean that he was a [gasp] Baptist??? I do not think
Upper Long Cane is an older Cemetery than Cedar Spring or Lower long Cane.
Samuel is not buried at Upper long Cane. At least not under the name of
Samuel. All of my Leslie stuff is not in the book where it belongs. Ho humm.

You mean ME??? Hey, if I'm the best Long Cane list can do for a techie, then our proposed web site is in big trouble! LOL!!!
Seriously, though, I'd love to do it, but in all honesty, I probably don't have the time or the knowledge. However, that never seems to stop me from trying, so... I'll look into it and see what I can come up with---maybe I can at least get us started. No promises, though. And if anyone else wants to finish the

Where could I get a copy of the passenger list for the Earl of
Hillsborough? I have it listed in my records as the ship my John Hearst
family came on. However, I can't find it to prove that, and I also need to
locate where they came from. Any help you could give me would be great. I
love the idea of a Web Page. Thanks in advance, Shala
