Shirley,
Can you shed any light on a document I found some years ago in the
Judicial Records of the Spanish Cabildo at the Louisiana State Museum?
It is a petition of Henry Schuyler Thibodeau for permission to marry
Feliciti Mire. The petition was a notarial act written by Pedro
Pedesclaux and dated 14 January 1793. (The citation I have, but do not
fully understand, is: LHC RG 2, 14 Jan 1793 (6) Not. WPA 2963; SP
1250. It's also on microfilm at the Family History Library in Salt
Lake City: #
Genia,
I provided the names because someone may have a relative buried in the
Cemetery. Some names are descendants of the Spanish who settled New Iberia.
We had a similar situation at the St. Nicholas Cemetery at Patoutville, LA
and were able to find relatives who restored the tombs - see
http://www.thecajuns.com/pvcnames.htm
Many persons don't realize that burial places aren't provided in perpetuity
and that the owners of the spaces are responsible for maintenance of the
tombs.

A Public Notice was posted in the Teche News on May 7, 14 & 20 that St.
Martin de Tours Church plans to REPOSSESS Cemtery Spaces in St. Michael
Cemetery. The notice was sent to me by Terry Dupuis, Acadian Memorial. I've
created a web page at the url below [I'll clean it up asap] for the notices
with the names and locations that will be repossessed!
Once again the need to have a major reform in the responsibility for final
resting places is being highlighted!

So what does this mean? What do we need to do?

Orphaned at an early age and was adopted by General Phillip Schuyler of New

In about 1793 Henri arrived in Louisiana from New York, settled near St.
James Parish, where he married Felicite Bonvillain and they had 2 sons.
In 1800 following the death of his wife Felicite, Henri marr

I think that you meant to answer Gordon on the Acadian-Cajun list.
Some of Henry's descendants ended up and are buried at Patoutville - see
