I'm a Benson too, but haven't been very successful in finding out

What is the specific info you are looking for? I will check the book.

I have a book REYNOLDSVILLE (PA) AND VICINITY, by Ward C. Elliott.
Winslow Township is included. There is a statement that the books includes Interesting History of Western Pennsylvania never heretofore published.
If any one is interested, they may have the book by witing to me off line.

I "think" it is www.marvelicious.com. If that doesn't work put in a search
for John MARVEL and the site should come up.

Mike,
I imagine there are many on this wonderful list who can answer that question

My only guess would be that given the variations of how names were spelled

Thank's for your info; but now I really am confused. Is the Robert that you
show the one born after 1756 to William Prettyman & Elizabeth Burton? If so,
what info do you have on him? Did he have the two Roberts who died as
children?
I have really read and reread all of the wonderful info from Mitch

Jacque-Lynne, I know you weren't asking specifically about "This Was Chesapeake Bay," but I checked the book's index for Alward Johnson and the "Virginia Dare," and didn't find anything too promising. The closest thing I found was one reference to a "Mr. Johnson." The book discusses a booklet written by a seaman who had worked on the "Ann E. Hooper" in 1857, and who, in the booklet, identifies "Mr. Johnson" as having been the "Hooper's" mate.
I'm sorry I didn't find more!

Hi George,
I called theVa. archives about the book and they have it. The man I talked
to said that he thought it was available through interlibrary loan. You may
want to get your local library to order it for you. It also can be taken out of
the library, so if you just need a lookup, I can do that for you the next time
I go to the library.
