Hi Listers
I am seeking information for a elderly friend researching the Lyon/Lyons
Family of William Lyons/Lyon who settled in Norfolk County Ontario after the
REV WAR. He was with the 8th Army and had a son Benjamin. He also had a
grandson William who later came back into the United States and settled in
CA.
Information indicated that this family originated before the War in the
Mohawk Valley Region and William probably had other family who remained in
the Old Tryon County Area.
Any informatio

In my ongoing research of my Lyons / Cameron families I have come across some
information about Harrison Lyons. It seems that before he enlisted in the
1st Minnesota Volunteers at the age of 19 in 1861, he was involved in
fighting or chasing Inkpaduta the Indian Chief who had massacred 30+ white
settlers at Spirit Lake Iowa.
This Chief was considered the terror of many. In the real story he did the
things that made him feared but only at the constant cruelty of the
authorities of the day against h

Hi Debbie,
Sure, I have some suggestions for you regarding your Lyons from County
Galway. I assume you have checked a lot of the usual sources, such as U. S.
census records. That being said, the next thing to do is to consider writing
to Co. Galway with the info you know, and seeing if they can find any of your
relatives for you. The only problem is that it is a little expensive. The
Co. Galway records are divided into the East Galway Family History Society
and the West Galway Family History Soci

Dear Dean,
My Grgrandfather, George J. Lyons, was born in 1860 in Bennington, Vermont. My grandfather told stories of his father coming to Michigan via the Erie Canal as a child...They eventually settled in Monroe County, Michigan. The only thing I know is that George's father was James Lyons, born in Ireland. This seems to be a brick wall for me. He does not show up in the 1870 census in Michigan, so he must has still been in Vermont. Also, Grandpa Lyons told me that our branch were French Huguenots.
Does anyone have a Hiram Lyons/Lines in their line? He was from Indiana and married Juliana Culver in mid 1800's in Ripley County, Indiana.
They later went to Davis or Appanoose County, Iowa. Sometime Hiram either died, disappeared, or they divorced. Not sure what happened to him, but Juliana returned to Indiana and remarried.
Any help appreciated.
