Wayne I am sorry you feel so direct about this, but I really did this for a
purpose, the purpose being to bring others who are researching Richard T Lyon
out in the open and yes, I am trying very hard to clear up this genealogy. By
the way you could answer a question for me. Richard Lyons was on the 1830
census for Gibson Co. and I find a Richard Lion on the 1840 census for Gibson
Co. Are they one and the same?? Wm. Carroll Lyon in Gibson Co. on 1850
census and in Yell County Ark on the 1
Thanks Pat,
The only thing that I have is that my ggggrandfather Alexander H. Lyons was
born in 1806 in NY. Census info. that I have states that his parents were
born in NY. as well. Some of the reoccurring family names are Harrison (his
son and Alexander's middle name, Stephan, George, John, Charles and for the
ladies Adeline, Lucinda, Permelia, Mary). I would love to find out that you
have made a connection to this family.
Thanks,

Hello,
Does anyone on the List have LYONS from the St. Luke's Finsbury
area of East London. I've traced mine back to the mid 1800's.
They were jewellers and watchmakers.
Hopefully,

JUST A THOUGHT FOR EVERYONE ON THE LIST:
When the Irish first came to America, their was a language problem.
They spoke Gaelic. That said, I have found during my search for my
ancestors who lived in Milford, Mass., that instead of the spelling
Lyons, some were listed as Lynes or Lymes.
I know this for a fact. On a Plaque that is mounted on a Memorial which
lists the names of all the solders that were from Milford, Mass. and
fought in the Civil War, my ancestors' last names were misspelled.
The name

I am learning that these families of mine moved back and forth from Duluth,
Delano, Wadena and Minneapolis from as early as 1855 through 1916. At that
time they all seem to go to Idaho and Oregon. If you are researching these
surnames in Minnesota let me know so that we can compare notes.
Thanks,

Well, I keep finding more information on siblings to my GGGrandmother
Permelia Lyons. She had an older sister that I did not know about Adeline
Lyons b. abt 1833 in NY. She married William Gross in abt. 1854 in Penn?
Another sister was Mary Elizabeth Lyons married to Lauren Manly Maxfield on 6
Sept. 1863.
My Alexander H. Lyons (GGGGrandfather) was living in Mary's household in
1905, he was 89 years old. They all lived in Delano from abt. 1892 through
early 1900's. Adeline and Williams children m

I have found many incorrect spellings on my
Lyons line.
I searched all over creation for a GGGGAunt,
and found her name had been changed to Lion,
not by her choice I am sure.
My GG Grandfather's name was (John) Irwin Green Lyons.
In receiving a marriage license, and birth certificate, and other
correspondence, the
spellings were Irving G. Ervin G, and Arvin.
I use certain genealogy sites for possible guidlines, such as birth
places, children, and
wives. then I persue to see if they are factual.

Hi Dean
I have a client who's Ancestor was a Loyalist in the Rev War. In tracing him
I found that he originated in the Mohawk Valley of NY per a Canada reference
on his sons Loyalist descendant Land Records. I am seeking others who were
in the Area prior to the Rev as I believe that they might go back to the
original Irish Settlement in NYS such as some of my own Ancestors did. Most
of the Irish were divided on the War and although many were Patriots they
also fought against brothers who were Loy
Hi Dean
Did you have a County Location on this Census information in NYS?? I would
say that the location that I feel is a possible was the old Tryon County
before 1784 and probably the portion of that county that became Schoharie or
Montgomery County.

I have been following your emails on the Lyons family. I have been trying
to find information on my great grandfather William Lyons, that lived in
Chautauqua Co. NY with -Thomas and Mary Shepard, his future father and mother
in law in the late 1840's. My sketchy information indicates he was born in
Canada about 1826 or 27 or maybe later, but perhaps his parents came to NY
and he could have been born there.. Any information you have I would
appreciate. Thank you.
