There is a copy at http://catalog.lib.byu.edu/uhtbin/cgisirsi/X/0/0/57/5/ but I doubt that they would share it. It would not hurt to ask.

Would like to find any additional information about Anne Louise Capen buried in Green-Wood Cemetery, Brooklyn, NY. According to information that I have she was buried 16 May 1861 in Lot 5147, Section 68.

John Buzcek is correct. HQ is a pay site and not everyone has access to
it. HQ is available free through many library systems, you just need a
valid library card, but not all carry HQ. My library system doesn't. :(
The same thing could be said for the various projects involved in
transcribing published vital records. The pay sites are getting these
faster than anyone else because they have the big bucks. That does NOT
help those people who can't afford to subscribe. Also, these records are

Does anyone own the book listed below and willing to freely share a copy

With due appreciation for those who live in very rural areas (like
several of my friends), it is worth noting that Heritage Quest, along
with footnote.com and access to the Godfrey Memorial Library, is
available through the local Family History Centers (branches of the
Family History Library in Salt Lake). Not as convenient as on-line
access, but an alternative to keep in mind.

Janice,
An electronic copy is online for free if you have a subscription

You can download it in PDF format 50 pages at a time. If you would
like me to do that for you and send it to you, I will. It is not a

Okay, as there have been a couple replies on the list regarding HQ and
my library system. Let's end that part right now - friendly. :-)
I live in Kootenai County, ID. Our library system is part of the County
government and actually is a two county system as it also takes care of
our neighbor Shoshone County. The total area for both counties is about
4,000 square miles. That's over twice the size of Rhode Island. We have
a total of about 140,000 people in both counties. (Kootenai has 127,000

If the book is already available for free viewing on Heritage Quest,
then why would you want to bother with transcribing it? Why not pick a
book that isn't already on line and transcribe that, one that is free
of other publisher's copyright?

Hello,
About 2 weeks ago, I heard of a genealogy society in MA which I did not
know about. And, I got an e-mail from an historical society mentioning an
event that weekend that others might be interested in. And, I know of
several genealogy societies that other people don't know about. Etc.
So, I thought that maybe a List should be started up - providing a place
where people could discuss genealogy societies and historical socities that
researchers know about. And, researchers could announce eve

Hi Robby,
You need to tell how old Anne CAPEN was when she died, or when and where
she was born.
I did a quick check in census reports and there were .74. CAPEN households
in the US in the 1820 census. Most were in MA but they were also in
the other New England states, etc.
By the 1860 census there were over 200 households with the CAPEN name.
Again, most in MA.
I also checked the CAPIN surname and found a few households in 1820 and in
1860 there were 37 househods.
I am not finding an Ann

If your public library doesn't have Heritage Quest, perhaps contacting
the library and asking them why they don't subscribe or making a
suggestion that they do subscribe might be necessary. If enough people
contact a particular library, their procurement committee (or whatever
it might be called) might just take it under advisement to select it as
one of the sites they pay for. Considering it is your tax dollars at
work, they should be providing a service to the local community and
