Jean,
I take any and all information. Sad to say that I have two files, each of which is more than two inches thick with things that I haven't updated in the database yet, but it all awaits that mystical time we all expect when we will actually find time to do the things we need to do. Please, send anything on.
I think we've connected on a couple of other lines, too. The only Green families that I know I connect to are the Greenes (with the third "e") from the Newport and Middletown areas. I have n

I did a little detecting and came up with a URL which tells about the Dedham
Society which anyone can join for $10.

It gives some information about the Detecting Horse Thieves Society.
Also I found this url too:

At least there are three of us on this list...

Hi Sue, and all!
Horse thieves in Mendon? Heaven forbid! Weren't all our ancestors too good for that? We'd like to think so, anyway. No, I never heard of this society, but it makes me wonder if Alice knows anything about it or has anything in the archives about it. I know I have a witch back there as an 8th great-grandmother (Mary Tyler, wife of Hopestill Tyler, daughter-in-law of the notorious but always interesting Job Tyler), but she was acquitted. I've always thought she'd be more interesting if
Good morning Mendon!
I am looking for "proof" that Abigail Ellis RAWSON was the daughter of
Edward RAWSON and Sarah SADLER. This is for the Daughters of the
American Revolution (DAR) to accept her as a RAWSON. I have 2 family
lines tied in with her.
The DAR doesn't like the fact that Ellis is written in above her name
on the family grouping page and in the Mendon Vital Records to 1850
under marriages - it says (alias Ellis) for her name.
What I know/have about Abigail

Hi Frank,
Alice is off traveling at the moment so I don't know if you will hear from
her right away.
I found out that this was a chapter of The Massachusetts Society for
Detecting Horse Thieves. Apparently, their constitution and membership list are
published in a booklet. I'll will let you know if I find anything else.
It's nice to know that there are at least two of us still on this list!

Hi Sheryl,
I looked at that entry in the Mendon VRs and here is what I think... I have
seen Alice misspelled as Ellis a number of times. The way it is presented in
the Mendon VRs indicates that it is an alias for her given name, not her
surname. In other words, maybe she was named Abigail but sometimes called Alice
(Ellis). You need to explain to the DAR that Ellis is a misspelling of Alice
and not an alternate surname.

Hi Mendon Listers!
Long time, no hear from any of you! Has anyone ever heard of this? I found
some records for The Society for Detecting Horse Thieves in the Towns of
Mendon, Bellingham, and Milford. It was organized 21 Dec 1795. When I put Chilson
in the search engine, four names came up! I haven't tried any other names as
yet. It's on the Genealogy Today website -- but is a for pay resource.
Anyway, I was just wondering if anyone knew anything about this.
