Hi Jim,
At Genealogy.com, Sons and Daughters of the Pilgrims has an entry on page
40 that begins:

Attleboro; married June 30, 1902, at Attleboro; hereby apply for
membership in the Society by right of descent from John Brown, born in

I was at the NEHGS Library in Boston last week looking at the Monthly
Meeting Records for Dartmouth, MA on microfilm concerning Joseph Merrihew
and his wife Leah Hatch. He married her outside of the faith and they had a
baby soon afterwards so he had to write a letter acknowledging his
wrongdoing to be read at a meeting. The microfilm had the contents of this
letter. I do not know about Yarmouth.

First you have to get well organized. One way is to use a database program such as Personal Ancestral file avaialble FREE from the FamilySearch.org site. Or purchase one such as Family Treemaker.
Enter all data and sources including locations of Birth Marriage and Deaths. You will quickly find a large list of interelated people developing. This will help get a handle on your Nortons. It was not uncommon for sons to name the children after the father. If there was a Benjamin who had several sons ea

Does anyone know much about the Davis town from this area, particularly from
the Meridian Street / Upper New Boston ROad (as it was called in 1893) area
?
I think Meridian Street was once part of Freetown.
In particular I am interested in Benjamin and Rebecca Davis born
approximately in 1815. They had a number of children including Dean, Samuel,
Hannah (Manchester) and Sarah.
Someone once told me that Ben's name is on the Bunker Hill Monument.

Does anyone has access to the Keeley Library at the Durfee High School in
Fall River.
They seem to have a nice online Fall River History Collection.
I was wondering if there are any records of early students.
I received an obituary for Jennie Manchester Coolidge which said she
attended Durfee HighSchool.
However, she was born in 1868 so I wasn't sure if this was true. If it was,
she would have to be in one of the very first classes. She went on to become
a teacher.
The online year books start at 1912,
A short time ago someone posted a message saying that she was updating the Francis Cooke genealogy (a Mayflower 5-Gen. book). Can anybody help me contact her?
Many thanks, Jane

New Bedford does have copies of the old deeds at the New Bedford Registry of Deeds. I have looked at the old deeds prior to 1825 for Dartmouth there.

Have you tried the Registries of Deeds in Taunton and/or New Bedford? I

For those of you not familiar with her work, Marion Pearce Carter is
among the most notable of the Bristol County and Rhode Island
genealogical researchers. Her many transcriptions include numerous
gravestone transcriptions. Her manuscripts can be found at the Old
Colony Historical Society and NEHGS, and may

Why not contact the Friends' Meetings? There are two in South Dartmouth:

In the Vital Records by town section of my web site the vital records of
Attleborough, MA have been completed. These were typed by Mary-Sue
Gardetto, who did an excellient job on them.
Also in the same section the births and marriages for Oakham, MA have
been added, the deaths will follow soon. These were ocred by Dave
Swerdfeger and proofread by Tom West. Both Dave and Tom put a lot of
work into these for you to use.

Has anyone come across the Somerset Gospel Church in their records?
My great great grandparents
Joseph Ferris Simons and Guillerminah DeMello were married there in 1899,
minister Rev. John Millar. (Miller?).
I've found their official marriage record at the Mass Archives, but I was
wondering if a church record might exist somewhere.
Is there some good place for Somerset records? The Somerset HIstorical
society doesn't indicate it holds any records on its website.

I realised after I posted this morning's email that Benjamin Davis could not
possibly have been in the revolutionary war.
I managed to iron some serious kinks out of the Davis tree I had. I had the
generations mixed up.

Samuel had a son that was sometimes listed as Sherman P. and somet

For NY:
The 1790 Census for Washington County has been started. At this time the
towns of Argyla, Granville, Hampton & Hebron are online. Spelling of all
names were keep as published by the Census Bureau in 1908, even if wrong.
For MA:
For the Vital Records of Attleborough to 1850 the Deaths were added and
the Marriages for surnames Aldrich to Quindley. All births for
Attleborough were already online. These records were typed by Mary-Sue
Gardetto for your use.
