Home Birth was quite common place.Or mid-wife assisted. There may be no birth record, but a Christening or Baptismal Record, will suffice. That will be gotten for the Parish. Daniel Patrick Nolan and Ellen Mattheson lived near St Mary's.They were catholic. Even a family bible is the only record of birth. People were not as intelligent or had enough money to pay for things like marriages,Etc. Some of the Irish were running from the Law. Good morning, Yesterday, in a spurt of determination to get "organized", I came across an old "Descend-o-Gram", which is the newsletter published by the Sons and Daughters of the First Settlers of Newbury, MA. What a huge coincidence, because almost the entire thing is devoted to Gerald Ford and his relationships to the first settlers of Newbury ! It shows Mr. Ford as being descended from 28 different settlers, and gives a brief rundown of each line. For those of you who are

If you don't get any bites, let me offer an alternative that has worked very well for me. Enter the information you have into the findagrave website. Then request a photo of the grave site. The option is on the same page. You'd be amazed how many fantastic and generous people there are out there. One traipsed through Bridge Street Cemetery for me not once but twice and another went to Mount Elliot in Detroit in subzero weather. They're not at all casual about it either. The 1880 census for Lawrence has John T., age 8, living with Daniel P. and Ellen Nolan. Siblings Daniel W. 6, and George, 4. These are the parents' names from the marriage record of John and Elizabeth. Daniel was born in Ireland and Ellen was born in Scotland. He is 37 and she is 40. There is a birth record for a Daniel Nolan in Lawrence, 19 April 1865. I was unable to find birth records for the other children. Daniel died 19 July 1865, aged 3 mos.. I was unable to find a marriage record for Daniel
