2. [MAESSEX] A word of warning [1]
Time for a precautionary warning. Scamming the genealogy community seems to be alive and well. I think the reason it thrives is because on the whole the genealogy community is so helpful, into sharing etc. and we tend to trust others into genealogy. The International Blacksheep Society of Genealogists has posted a Genealogy Hall of Shame. Take a look at http://blacksheep.rootsweb.com/shame/promises.htm#angies This is a good page to bookmark, place on favorites, put in a file or however you handle UR

26 persons have joined the Bond DNA project so far. The results are being tabulated by Andrew Bond and can be see at - http://www.historicalgenetics.com/bondfamily.html . As the number of participants grows the combinations become more interesting. How a Bond of Kershaw County SC and Jones County GA (b about 1750) could relate to a Bond from Newbury, Essex County, MA is certainly an unexpected connection to be explored. As the data base grows the chances of finding unknown connections grow also. So if y

8. Re: [MAESSEX] Old style date question [1]
A minor point. The ORIGINAL record scribes did not have any ambiguity in their use of dates. It was NEVER -say- 1721/22 them. They knew which year it was. It is only the later transcribers who did not know. Sometimes, the uncertainty can be resolved. The Vital Record date for the death of one of my ancestors reads "Dec 16, 1721". (His wife died "Nov 19, 1721". Their eldest -and unmarried- son died "Dec 06, 1721". Presumably these three were afflicted by the same disease). Presumably his death date is a

Billie, From History of Gloucester, Cape Ann by James Babson, 174 William Vinson was of Salem as early as 1635, but removed to this place on the first settlement of the town. He is called in the records "potmaker". By land grant and by purchase he became the owner of several plots of land; on one of which, probably, was the spring that perpetuates his name. He was also the orginal grantee of Five-Pound Island. He was admitted a freeman in 1643; and in 1646, and several times thereafter, was one of

11. [MAESSEX] Leap Years (was: Things that make you go hummm...) [1]
Hi all, As shown here: http://www.norbyhus.dk/calendar.html#England "Under the Julian Calendar, a year was a leap year if it was divisible by 4, _under_the_assumption_that_the_year_began_1_January_." (Also note that since the numbering of years based on the birth of Christ was established after the Julian calendar, it is just luck that every 4th year happens to be those that are divisible by 4.) Therefore, a valid date would be, for example, Feb. 29, 1703/4, for a calendar that was using March 25th as

Are you sure she is not in the cemetery? have you looked at the cemetery records or just visited the cemetery? Is it possible she might be in another part of the cemetery or buried in family plot without marker? I know this sometimes happens with small children, there may be no marker or it is small and gets covered over (or worse: stolen).
