Dora, don't know if this helps or muddies the waters...
My best guess is that the photo of "Brother George"
was taken during a visit to William C. Readio,
who is found in the 1900 NY census residing
on W. 44th St., Manhattan, NYC, he is a
teacher, born in 1856 in NH, and is 44 yr. old & single.
In 1910 he is a clerk in an insurance company residing
on Washington Square near Broadway!
His father & mother were born in England, so my guess
is there is some relation to either Wm who imigrated in
1889 to NY
That was my guess as well. But the William C Readio in New York in the
1890's was not the brother of George Austin Readio ,but his nephew, and
George Austin Readio died in 1865. William Readio the brother lived in New
York much earlier and was dead in Yorkshire by this time.
Since this shop was at that address in 1890 but not in 1869 I am surmising
it must be of George Allen Readio.
:)

Memoirs of Boston's Great Fire of 1872
Rev. Mr Greene,
My dear Sir,
If I had written to you last Saturday, I should have written a very
different letter from this. I made an appointment to see certain persons on Saturday
afternoon at Boston. All things then looked favorable. But the fire broke out
before I had finished my remarks and darkness came from the fire. First, the
very persons from whom I had hoped to get funds in Boston are burnt out.
Secondly, a very unusual proportion of

The image hadn't been linked to the entry. I took care of that problem.
I've sent an email to you with the image as an attachment. I've had
problems before with folks with Yahoo accounts getting emails with
attachments from me. Please let me know if it did or didn't get it.

I am trying to find some further information on my ggrandmother - ANNA
LOUISA JONES. She was born in Jackson, TN in April of 1873.. She married WALTER A
COOPER approx. between 1895 or after give or take a few years. (WALTER
ARTHUR COOPER was born in 1872 in Massachsuetts.)
They had 5 children.. the first child died before daughter GLADYS MAY
COOPER was born in 1899 in
Massachusetts. then BEATRICE LOUISA COOPER was born 1900, ESTHER MAY was
born in 1903 and then my grandmother, MYRTLE ELIZA
Hi Dora,
I was able to find George Allen READIS death record in NEHGS. Here is the

I did this by entering GEORGE ALLEN in the first name, (did not enter
surname), then the year 1894 and count
I am trying to locate a photography studio that existed some time in the
middle of the 19th century. According to the back of the photo, Maxwell,
Photography, was located at 186 Bowery, near Spring. The photo is of
either George Austin Readio, taken before 1865, or his son George Allen
Readio, between 1870 and 1896. Neither George lived in more than a
handful of places. I canot find 186 Bowery St. in South Kingston, RI,
Manchester, NH, Northampton, MA, Springfield, MA, nor West Springfield,
I am looking for the death record of George Allen Readio, died in
Springfield, West Springfield, or Florence on Sep 15, 1894. I have him
died in West Springfield somewhere. His family lived there, and his widow
and son still lived there in 1900. But published genealogies give the
place of death as Florence, and there were kin in Northampton. On the
other hand, I'm tracing a family history of bipolar disorder, and I've found
people in Northampton State Hospital. Since this man was only 44
I was told there is a marriage between Ignace (Iujessie) FORTIER and Mary Seminole November 19, 1889 in Williamsburg, County Hampshire, MA, USA (vol 398, p40).
Would it be possible for somebody to scan this records and send it attached to an E-Mail. I live in Quebec and it is very difficult to abtain a record copy from the state or town archives.
