Hello, Maine Listers,
I have been away and unsubbed for awhile, but now I am back, persuing my Maine ancestors again. I am searching for my NORTON ancestors from the Farmington area and recently came across something that may lead to a clue. I was reading an account of the wedding of my grandparents in Lewiston in Oct. 1900. Besides telling about the wedding, the gifts were listed along with the names of the givers. Three gift givers were:
Mr.&Mrs O.A.Norton
Augustus P. Norton
Lillian A. Norton.

George Porter was drowned 10 years after he married the widow Mary
(Salter) Knox at Gagetown, N.B. in 1824.
Two questions:
1. Was his body recovered and buried at St. Johns Anglican churchyard?
2. What became of Mary?
