Hi, Listers
I am searching for the following family:
Alberta McCURDY married John BROWN, farmer
Known Children:
Charles Levi BROWN BC 1839 He went to sea at 14 yrs and settled in Australia.
Clara BROWN She married and had two sons that served in the Infantry in
the Pacific during WW II. Their last name may be Maloy or Molloy.
I have no idea where they lived in Maine but suspect it might have been the
Portland area as Charles was a crew member aboard the Clipper Ship Snow
Squall built at Cape Elizabe
or elsewhere
Doing research on the Wreck of the Bohemian off the Cape in February 1864.
Does anyone know of anybody with information regarding this shipwreck?
Many thanks,
david
Colourful, yes! My Campbell family, that includes Stewart, Harding, Doane,
Sears, Urquhart, Townsend, Grant, Nutting, Fitch, Huntingdon, Hamilton,
Wing, Smith, Cooke, Prust, MacDonald, Lamb, Rogers, Coles, Sinclair were
all early settlers in North America, and have been well researched. The
Campbell and Stewart family intermarried for many generations, that takes
some of the work out of the research. I am quite spoiled, Dad's family came
much later and records are not so easily had.
Thank you to everyon
Hello,
This week I've had some spare moments, and decided to check out the on-line
catalogs of some of my local libraries. I found out that there were
..many.. books published on "Maine history." And, many were written on
the history of "Maine" "prior to Statehood" (1700's up to 1820). Some
were even published .. since 1990.
I was wondering if anyone wanted to make any recommendations for books which
might be more useful to read than others .. about "the Northern Territory
of Massachusetts."

No, none in NH. Since this is a Maine mailing list, any queries about
other states should go to the appropriate locality list or to the surname
list.
Happy hunting,

"There were quite a few URQUHART families along the Miramichi and
Nashwaak Rivers. Most were the descendants of Donald URQUHART
who arrived with the 42nd Highland Regiment of Foot about 1783. It is
possible that they were related to your ancestors back in Scotland, but
they were separate in Miramichi.
There is quite a story behind the removal of John and Mary to Miramichi.
It involves bigamy when his first wife suddenly returned from the dead,
trials in court, problems with the church, etc. He ended up wit

Hello,
I'd like to ask for advice. My ancestor, Samuel WILKINS, was reportedly
born in "Maine" between 1770 and 1780. We have NO idea who his parents
were, but I have a "thought" that his father was one of the four WILKINS men
reportedly living in "Maine" in the late 1700's.
He also reportedly was married in "Maine" right around 1800. *If we do
not know which town he was married in, is there any way to find a record of
his marriage?*
The 1810 Census shows Samuel and Electra "Leeta" WILKINS and
Hi Bob,
Yes, they are indeed. I don't know what happened to Rev John's first wife
but I did pick up one additional bit of information from the IGI LDS.
According to them, Rev John died 1814 and his wife Mary died 1815, both in
Mooresfield, New Brunswick, Canada and are buried in Mooresfield Cemetary.
In Addition, it lists Rev John's parents as William Urquhart and Ann McKay.
Mary's parents as Capt John McIntrye and Jane Lamb Palmer. That will put
you back an additional Generation.
Happy Holidays,
Elai
Hi Bob
I live in Thomaston which is the town "next door" to Warren. I am currently
doing a bit of research for a friend from another list that lives in
Australia. As I do this, I would be happy to have a look for your family as
well.
The best source for Warren is Eaton's Annals of Warren found in our local
libraries. I'll have a look there as soon as possible. Also, the church is
no longer there but wonder if it was absorbed by one of the current
churches. There are 2 in Warren village that are quite old

His parents were:
Lyle Foster and Effie White
I do not have any more on this family. I have been told they lived in Maine
at one time.
I would appreciate any information you could share with me.
Regards,
Joyce
Annals of Warren says John and Mary (McIntyre) Urquhart "removed to
Mirimichi". (pg 411)

I am trying to find a copy of an obituary for Louise A. (Linscott)
Bellino, published 31 Aug 1999 in the Portland Press Herald. I don't
know when I can next get to the Maine State Library, so am asking if any
reader has a few back issues of the PPH that they could check for me.
Thanks.

Hi Betty;
Unity was formerly Twenty-Five Mile Pond Plantation. You

Folks,
My never ending quest to find the whereaboputs of Frank Robbins children. I
believe one if not two ar still living: Beverly [Tanner???] Bruce and
Donald. They were all born in the 20's [in Maine, I feel certain.]
Up until three years ago when perrenials were placed on the grave of Frank,
someone came every year.
Frank married a taylor woman. These children are likely my last link to
this branch of family.
Heeeeeeeeelp!

Anson, Sumerset County
Belfast, Waldo County
Belgrade, Kennebac County
Bethel, Oxford County
And a history for the County of Aroostook, this has no genealogy info,
but a good story about settleing the border between Canada and Maine.
Looks like I will have to remane the town history section to town and
county history.
I have also added 3 PDF files with the towns from Bucks Mils to Corinna,
that will be typed up at a later date. If anyone wants to type one of
these up for the web please feel free to
