I would like to hear from anyone who has information on the following. I'm particularly interested in their children and their families...
George William Heeney m. Cora M. Fernald - December 24, 1891
Children were:
Reynold E. Heeney born August 1893 - died 1958... Any children?
Mildred M. Heeney born 1897 - no further information
Helen F. Heeney born December 23, 1907 - married Charles Newton Andrews June 17, 1933. Any children?
I believe George was the son of William H. Heeney and Hannah Kay.

The Vital Records of Middleton, MA are now online in the Vital Records

These records contain quite a few people from Maine and New Hampshire as
well as people from MA, but most are from Mittleton.

Jeff,
Based on the 1930 census of Freedom, Marie's parents appear to be Archie
and Lurline. She had a sister Erdline? Marie was born about 1923. You
might be able to use that info to locate her using USSearch. It may cost
you $10.

The web site for the Archives of the Archdiocese of Boston used to have
a list of parishes established before 1900, but they have reworked the
site and I don't see it any longer. The site is here

Perhaps you can call and ask your question, or you may have to write.
Address and phone numbers are on the site.

Any information is appreciated. We are in Phillips.

I just added 7 town histories for Androscoggin and Cumberland Counties.
These finsih the histories that I have for these 2 Counties. A big job
getting near the end it looks like. The towns added ar:
in Androscoggin County; Turner, Wales and Webster.
in Cumberland County; Standish, Westbrook, Windham and Yarmouth.
The new ones for Androscoggin County seam to do a better job at listing
most of the early settlers than a lot of the ones that I had online before.

I have a 3 page file on Old Orchard Beach if anyone would like to type
it up to have added to the town histories online. It is not a town, but
will go with them as it is the best place on the web site to keep a file
for Maine at this time.
If there is a town that you are interested in that is online I would
appreciate it if you could proffread the page for it ans let me know of
any errors in typing (off of the list). I have to admitt that my
spelling and typing are not all that good.

I read this excellent history http://home.comcast.net/~downeastgenealogy/History/EarliestRecords.htm about the beginnings of all the little townships and villages in Eastern Maine after the French and Indian Wars ended.
The men of Salem and Boston who took pride in their un-calloused hands stayed put while the other men...our Grandfathers...the Wild Bunch with callouses...came East with adventure in their eyes.

Hi Jan,
Up until around 1760 the lands east of the Penobscot, for the most part,
were in thr hands of the French. After the last of the French & Indian
wars, the English segmented this land and began establishing plantations.
Being Protestant was one of the requirements for obtaining a land grant.
Now as to your "brick wall," allow me to provide some "informed
speculation." In 1611, Father Biard, a Jesuit from France, came to Port
Royal (now Annapolis) N.S. with the purpose of converting the I

it's a historical thing ...
back in the "dark ages", one abbreviation for Maine "was" MN
Minnesota was then Minn.
the two-letter postcode standardization seems like a newfangled
thing for some (of us) oldtimers ... obviously the IGI transcribers
center were not aware of this, or hadn't been fully briefed on
geography, or perhaps were instructed to type in exactly what
they saw ...

Could either of you tell me how and where I can order the document and if

I need the documents for the DAR.
Thanks again for being so helpful.
