1. Re: [MAINE] Genealogy Research - BEDELL [1]
Harry, May I suggest the Springvale, Maine Library. The library has more Genealogical books than any other library in Maine that I know of. Where can I most likely find the records of births for the period 1798 to 1810 in the towns of Sanford & Springvale, Maine. Specifically I'm interested in the children of Joseph Bedell (Beadle) born between 1795 and 1810. Also any reference to a Charles Bedell (Beadle) reportedly born in Sanford/Springvale in 1802. Thank you for any assistance you can offer. Harry Bedell Peabody, Ma

Hi, In checking Genealogical Dictionary of Maine and New Hampshire, page 345, there is one reference to a: Hollard (Hullet), Geroge, Penobscot 1674 and a reference to the Documentary History of Maine, volume 6, page 82. Possibly that volume could give you more information. Good luck! Jan Delorey

10. Re: [MAINE] Dresser [1]
Carol, Thanks for your reply. Yes, I know about the other Joseph Dresser's listed in the 1850 census; one of the Joseph's in the 1850 census is a Joseph Roberts Dresser, so couldn't be my guy and isn't the Joseph D. Dresser listed in the article. I'll have to look further into the other one, but I don't think he's my guy either. -- Thanks, Mary (Dresser) Taffet Carol H wrote: > > Have you checked the 1850 census for the towns around Bangor? This may help; The Secretary of State maintains records of corporations. Not all businesses were incorporated. If you check out the SOS website at http://www.state.me.us/sos/cec/corp/corp.htm you will see what kind of records the state keeps. Defunct corporations are not on the site. I know that at the Cumberland County Registry of Deeds, they have some records of corporations. I would assume that other Maine counties would have similar records. Bangor is in Penobscot county. Check with historical soci

Patti, I have no idea what resource to look in. That's why I have asked this question. I hope somebody knows what resources exist and where they might be kept. That's the information I was hoping to learn when I asked this question. I have no idea myself, but I was hoping one of you might know. -- Mary Dresser Taffet On Sun, 16 May 2004 Dancergirl1957@aol.com wrote: > > Hi all, > > > > I hope some of you on this list will know how to go about requesting > > copies of old business records in Maine.
