"Frankfort Plantation and Pownalborough (West Precinct) were both early
names for the present town of Dresden. Incorporated in June 1794,
Dresden, is believed to have been named for Dresden, Germany. It is nine

Is there (or was there?) a town called Kingsford in the middle 1800's? I
was given information that my ancestor, David ROBINSON was from Kingsford,
but I cannot find the town listed anywhere. Am not sure whether it's:
1. Been provided incorrectly and should actually be "Kingfield"
2. Was incorporated into another town or re-named
3. Just no longer exists..a ghost town
If anyone knows where it is, would you tell me what county I should be
looking in? Also, what county is Kingfield in?

Hi Rose,
I have researched the names you mention (expect for Knowles). Many of the
names you mention came to the Waterville Maine area from Paspebiac, Quebec. If
you need any information, I am willing to share. Thanks,

Marion,
Looked in the Lewiston phone book (have an older one)from 1996 when I
lived up there, and found there are three Maberry's listed:
Danny, 14, Village Dr., Lewiston 04240 207-784-0410
Kevin, 200 Bradman St., Auburn 04210 207-784-4724
I.J., 1622 Main St., Oxford 04270 207-743-1622
As far as I can tell (searched with Infospace.com) there are no Mabire's
listed in Maine other than with the above spelling.
Had hoped there might still be a family in tha
The Maine State Library has a copy but they have it listed as 1978. While I
have not seen it yet, from their online catalog it looks like it was
self-published. Rundlette K. Palmer, though, is still listed in the phone

Good luck in your search.

Marion,
Checked out the 1790 Maine Census and although I found no Mabire's, I
did find a few "Mayberry's" and since the spelling in those days was not as
accurate as it is today, I wonder if this may cause you some futile hours of
research!
There are Mayberry's listed as follows:
John, James and William were in Windham and there was a Richard in
Raymond in the 1790 Census.
May be a lead and maybe not. They did spell names the way they sounded
back then -- especially in Lewisto

However, the good news is that he didn't think there was any damage to
the roof, etc. that he could see. So we're thankful for that............ A

Linda,
Are you still looking to hire someone, or was that part of an old message?
I live 25 minutes from the Maine State Archive and Library. As of this
fall, both kids are in school full-time, so I am available to do research
for hire.

Hi:
I think this is the Mogan family in Bangor that I researched but I was
confused by the name of the wife- Fillis. I just noticed a correction was
posted. Wasn't she either Jordan or Cawley? (I'm doing this from memory
and its been a few years) I remember there were many children. I didn't
research back of Michael though since I was researching the wife's
background.
